EXEMPT FROM FEES PURSUANT <br />TO GOVERNMENT CODE § 6103 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2017-04 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION <br />NO. 2017-01 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br />821 NORTH OLIVE STREET ON THE HISTORICAL <br />REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC REGISTER <br />CATEGORIZATION NO. 2017-01 PLACING SAID <br />PROPERTY WITHIN THE CONTRIBUTIVE CATEGORY <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. On April 6, 2017 the Historic Resources Commission held a duly noticed <br />public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No. 2017-01) and <br />Historic Resources Commission Categorization No. 2017-01 for the Travis <br />House located at 821 North Olive Street, Santa Ana. <br />B. The Travis House contains distinctive architectural features of the Spanish <br />"Eclectic" Revival style, and was built in 1928. <br />C. This home qualifies for listing on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties and is eligible for categorization as Contributive under Criterion <br />1 for its exemplification of the distinguishing characteristics of the Spanish <br />"Eclectic" Revival style. Typical features of this style illustrated by the <br />house include its massing and symmetrical composition; flat roof with tile <br />roofing material; stucco finish; wood -framed casement windows; and <br />ornate painted tiles. Additionally, the house has been categorized as <br />"Contributive" because it "contributes to the overall character and history" <br />of Santa Ana, and, as an intact example of the Spanish "Eclectic' Revival <br />style in the Washington Square neighborhood, and "is a good example of <br />period architecture'. Character -defining features of the Travis House that <br />should be preserved include, but may not be limited to: materials and <br />finishes (stucco finish); roof design and detailing; original windows and <br />doors where extant. <br />D. The legal owners of the subject property are Curt and Rita Merlo. <br />E.
