LS 3.12.18 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2018-10 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING CONDITIONAL <br />USE PERMIT NO. 2018-02 AS CONDITIONED TO ALLOW <br />THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 44,997 -SQUARE FOOT <br />CHURCH CAMPUS WITH 1,250 SEATS FOR CHRIST OUR <br />SAVIOR CATHOLIC CHURCH LOCATED AT 2000 WEST <br />ALTON AVENUE <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Planning Commission of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, <br />determines and declares as follows: <br />A. David Pfeifer with Domusstudio Architecture, representing Christ Our <br />Savior Catholic Parish (Applicant), is requesting approval of Conditional <br />Use Permit No. 2018-02 as conditioned, to allow the construction of a new <br />18,601 -square foot church with 1,250 seats, a 15,775 -square foot parish <br />hall, a 5,966 -square foot parish center and a 4,655 -square foot meeting <br />and office building at 2000 West Alton Avenue. <br />B. Pursuant to Section 4 of Specific Development No. 4 (SD -4), a conditional <br />use permit (CUP) is required for churches and accessory church buildings <br />and functions. <br />C. Conditional Use Permit No. 2018-02 came before the Planning <br />Commission of the City of Santa Ana on March 12, 2018, for a duly <br />noticed public hearing. <br />D. The Planning Commission determines that the following findings, which <br />must be established in order to grant this Conditional Use Permit <br />pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code (SAMC) Section 41-638, have <br />been established for Conditional Use Permit No. 2018-02: <br />1. That the proposed use will provide a service or facility which will <br />contribute to the general wellbeing of the neighborhood or <br />community. <br />Christ Our Savior Catholic Parish has been providing a place of <br />worship and gathering and educational services to the community <br />since 2008. The granting of this CUP will allow the church to expand <br />its services and audience, as they have outgrown their current <br />temporary facilities. The proposed facilities will support and directly <br />benefit the public welfare physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The <br />Resolution No. 2018-10 <br />Page 1 of 7 <br />
