Areas observed to pump or yield under vehicle traffic should be <br />removed and replaced with firm and unyielding compacted soil or aggregate base materials. <br />6.7.3 Aggregate Base <br />Aggregate base should be moisture conditioned to slightly over the optimum moisture content, <br />placed in lifts no greater than 6 inches in thickness, then compacted to at least 95 percent of the <br />laboratory standard (ASTM D 1557). Aggregate base materials should be Class 2 Aggregate Base <br />conforming to Section 26-1 of the 2010 Edition of the Caltrans Standard Specifications, Crushed <br />Aggregate Base conforming to Section 200-2.2 of the 2012 Edition of the Standard Specifications <br />for Public Works Construction (Greenbook) or Crushed Miscellaneous Base conforming to Section <br />200-2.4 of the Greenbook. <br />6.7.4 Asphaltic Concrete <br />Aggregate base should be moisture conditioned to slightly over the optimum moisture content, <br />placed in lifts no greater than 6 inches in thickness, then compacted to at least 95 percent of the <br />laboratory standard (ASTM D 1557).
