Project No. D-3885-06
Christ Our Savior Catholic Parish
It should be noted that the soils are susceptible to excessive erosion if exposed to running
water. We recommend that all surface runoff should not be allowed to pond above or
flow freely over adjacent slope surfaces. Collected water should be conveyed via a non-
erosive device to a suitable storm drain system.
Groundwater was encountered within the depth of l4 to 23 feel al the time of our drilling.
Groundwater is anticipated to affect the site adversely. However, these observations
reflect site conditions at the time of the investigation and do not preclude changes in local
groundwater conditions, localized seepage due to variations in rainfall, heavy inigation,
damaged structure (pipes, etc.), or altered site drainage pattem(s). Historic high
groundwater depth was approximately S-feet based on CGS Newport Beach Quadrangle
Map, released April 17,1997.
The potential for ground water to rise to the ground surface in the site area is considered
to be very unlikely.
Faulting and Seismicity
There are no known or mapped active faults, which, if projected would trend through or
near the site. The property does not lie within an Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zone as
designated by the California Geological Survey (CGS). For these reasons, the potential
for direct surface fault rupture at the site is considered very low.
The closest known active fault is the San Joaquin Hills Blind Thrust fault. The fault is
located 0.69-mile to the south of the site. The San Joaquin Hills Fault has been assigned
maximum magnitude of 6.6 and a slip rate of 0.5 mm per year.
The other active fault close to the site is the Newport-lnglewood (L.A. Basin) Fault which
is 5.51 miles (8.82 km) away. Newport-Inglewood (L.A. Basin) fault has been assigned
maximum magnitude of 7.1 and a slip rate of 1.5 mm/year.
