Project No. D-3885-06
Christ Our Savior Catholic Parish
period of 975 years, and 2o/o probability ol exceedance in 50 years i.e. retum period of
2,475 years, are calculated as 0.42579,0.5603g and 0.78529 respectively.
Secondarv Effects:
These potential secondary effects are summarized below:
Induced Liquefaction: Earthquake induced liquefaction is a possible hazard at this site.
Seismically induced settlement of saturated as well as dry soils is further discussed in
later sections of this report.
Induced Landsliding: The site lies far enough from steep or high upland slopes to
preclude any damage from induced landslides.
Lateral Spreading: The site has a very gentle relief and there are no significant slopes or
free-face conditions coinciding with the elevation of potentially liquefiable layers.
Therefore, lateral spreading is not considered to be a potential seisrnic hazard for the
proposed development.
Induced Settlement: Due to the scattered sequences of unconsolidated alluvial deposits
beneath the property, as well as liquefaction potential, there is a seismically induced
settlement which needs to be considered. This is further discussed in later sections of this
report.
7
u
I
I
I
T
I
I
I
T
I
I
I
I
t
I
I
t
I
u
In addition to possible strong ground motions on the property, other secondary effects of
earthquake-induced liquefaction, earthquake-induced Iandsliding, lateraI spreading,
settlement, flooding and subsidence were considered. Guidelines for evaluating and
mitigation seismic hazards in California (CGS, 2008, SP-117A) summarize procedures
for evaluating the earthquake-induced landslide and Iiquefaction potential.
