Project No. D-3885-06
Christ Our Savior Catholic Parish
geotechnical engineering construction items and any special provisions that may be
applicable (vibration monitoring, particle velocity limiting criteria, etc.).
Pile Lateral Load Capacity
Lateral load analysis of the driven piles has been calculated using the latest computer
program LPILE version 2016.9.10 (A program for the analysis of piles and drilled shafts
under lateral loads) developed by Ensoft, Inc.
The tables on the following subsequent pages show the maximum shear, maximum
bending moment, depth to fixity for %-inch and % inch deflection at top for free head and
fixed head conditions for 14-inch and l6-inch square pre-cast pre-stressed concrete driven
piles.
The variation of deflection, moment, and shear force along the lengths of the driven pile
for both %-inch and %-inch top deflection under free- and fixed-head conditions have
been plotted. They are presented in Appendix F. Similarly, Lateral Load vs. Pile Head
Deflection and Maximum Bending Moment vs. Lateral Load and the computer printouts
are also presented in Appendix F.
TABLE _ I
24
LATERAL ANALYSES
Deflection @
Top
(inch)
Maximum
B.M.
(kips-ft)
Maximum Shear
(kips)
Depth of Max.
B.M
(feet)
Depth of Fixity
(feet)
0.25 55.9 13.3 6.0 22.8
0.50 75.7 t7.t 6.6 23.4
I
I
I
T
I
I
I
I
I
T
I
I
I
I
T
t
T
I
I
l6-inch Square Driven Concrete Pile.
