Project No. D-3885-06
Christ Our Savior Catholic Parish
Utilities:
Any utilities under the slab should be supported by hangers under the slab and flexible
joints should be provided where such utilities cross the building footprint. These would
help reduce the likelihood of utility damage due to differential seftlement between non-
yielding pile zones and potentially settling liquefiable soil zones under the structural slab,
where such utilities may traverse.
Foundation Settlement:
Since the proposed structure will be supported on piles, static settlement is considered to
be insignificant. Also, subsurface conditions will improve due to piles and soil arching in
between piles in the event of liquefaction.
Pile Installation Observations:
Driving of piles should be performed under continuous inspection of the Geotechnical
engineer. Pile installation should be in accordance with ADSC Standards, this report, and
specific requirements set forth by the City of Santa Ana and their authorized field
representative (Deputy Inspector). Verification of pile lengths and capacities should be
performed by the Geotechnical Engineer in the field, based on penetration depth and
encountered soil conditions. All pile installations should be observed, recorded, and an
as-built report with accompanying records should be prepared and submitted by the
Geotechnical Engineer.
Shop Drawing Review
The Geotechnical Engineer should review and approve precast concrete piles for the
specified lengths and materials including the proper use of Type V cement and 0.45
water-cement ratio for protection against corrosion attack. This would be in addition to
the regular shop drawing reviews by the Structural Engineer.
u
I
t
I
I
I
I
n
u
n
I
I
n
I
I
I
T
n
E26
