The Parallam timber members shall be 2.0E Parallam PSL with the following design stresses: <br />Fb = 2900 psi <br />Fc┴ = 650 psi <br />Fc≈ = 2900 psi <br />Modulus of elasticity <br />Flexural Stress <br />Compression perpendicular to grain parallel to <br />wide face of strands <br />Compression parallel to grain Horizontal shear <br />perpendicular <br />1. The parallam beams are to be fabricated in the shop of a licensed fabricator. <br />2. The manufacture’s logo is to be imprinted on the side of the parallam beam. <br />3. The parallam beams are to be load tested by the manufacturer and the test results submitted to <br />the building inspector. <br />4. The parallam beams are manufactured by TrusJoist MacMillan and the ICC Report number is <br />ESR 1387. <br />G = 125,000 psiShear Modulus of elasticity <br />14. Studs may be cut or notched to a maximum depth of 25% of the width. Bored holes shall <br />not be nearer than 5/8” to the edge of a stud and shall not exceed 40% of stud width. <br />15. Joists or rafters may be notched at top or bottom a maximum of one-sixth of depth, but not <br />within middle third of span. Holes bored in joists or rafters shall not be nearer than 2” to the <br />edge and shall not exceed one-third of the joist or rafter dep <br />16. Notching of exterior and bearing/nonbearing walls shall not exceed 25%/40% respectively. <br />Bored holes in bearing/nonbearing walls shall not exceed 40%/60% respectively. <br />17. Roof diaphragm nailing to be inspected before covering. Face grain of plywood shall be <br />perpendicular to supports. <br />18. Floors shall have tongue and groove or blocked panel edges.
