SCE Santa Ana
October 25,2019
Project No. 3.31634
Page 1

1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This report presents the results of a geotechnical investigation for the proposed truck
canopy and prefabricated logistics building additions, to be located within the grounds of
the Santa Ana Service Center, located at 1241 S. Grand Avenue in Santa Ana, California
(33.7326; -117.8484) (Figures 1 and 2). The purpose of this study was to obtain
information on the subsurface conditions within the project area; to evaluate the
competency of the soils to support the proposed structure(s); evaluate data relative to site
geologic and seismic hazards; evaluate data relative to foundation design; and provide
conclusions and geotechnical recommendations for grading, foundation design, and
construction of the proposed structure(s) as influenced by subsurface conditions.

Specifically, our scope of work consisted of:

 A review of readily available published and unpublished geotechnical literature,
topographic maps, geologic maps, fault maps, and aerial photographs.

 Coordination of utility mark-out, and a subsurface field investigation consisting of
two small diameter borings and two cone penetration tests (CPT) to 50 feet below
the surface.

 Laboratory testing of representative soil samples obtained during our field
investigation to evaluate soil properties for design purposes.

 Geologic and geotechnical evaluation and analysis of the collected field and
laboratory data.

 Preparation of this written report presenting the results of our findings, conclusions,
geotechnical recommendations, and construction considerations for the proposed
development.

2. PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT

Based upon a review of project architectural plans provided by Elements Architecture
dated 9/30/2019, and Preliminary Grading Plan prepared by KHS Associates, dated
10/1/2019, the proposed project will include construction of an approximate 4,656 SF
Logistics Building, and a nineteen-foot-tall, 6,480 sf Truck Canopy.

46 of 100
1327 S Grand Ave
12/12/2024
