4.0 Design Loads - Dead:

There are two categories of dead load used to perform the structural analysis of the PanelClaw racking system; Dead Load of the Array (DLA) and
Dead Load of the Components (DLC).

DLA is defined as the weight of the entire array including all of the system components and total ballast used on the array.

DLC is defined as the weight of the modules and the racking components within an array. The DLC does not include the ballast used to resist loads
on this array.
4.1 Dead Load of the Arrays:

Array Information Results
Sub-
Array
Name
Number
of
Modules
DLC
(lbs.)
DLA
(lbs.)
DLC
(lbs.)/module
Sub-
Array
Area
(ft.^2)
Sub-Array
Roof
Pressure
(DLC) (psf)
Sub-Array
Roof
Pressure
(DLA) (psf)
Max
Allowable
Pressure on
Roof (psf)
Acceptable?
1.1 36 3,690 6,037 102 1,453 2.54 4.16 6.00 Yes
1.2 163 16,232 20,144 100 6,587 2.46 3.06 6.00 Yes
1.3 23 2,306 3,447 100 929 2.48 3.71 6.00 Yes
1.4 34 3,486 4,725 103 1,368 2.55 3.45 6.00 Yes
1.5 40 4,071 5,506 102 1,611 2.53 3.42 6.00 Yes
1.6 38 3,800 5,300 100 1,535 2.48 3.45 6.00 Yes
1.7 24 2,398 3,310 100 969 2.47 3.42 6.00 Yes
1.8 146 14,604 20,146 100 5,898 2.48 3.42 6.00 Yes
1.9 84 8,356 10,508 99 3,395 2.46 3.10 6.00 Yes
1.10 22 2,207 3,250 100 888 2.49 3.66 6.00 Yes
1.11 30 3,020 4,324 101 1,211 2.49 3.57 6.00 Yes
1.12 13 1,312 2,127 101 524 2.50 4.06 6.00 Yes
Total: 653 65,481 lbs.88,823 lbs.
*Racking component weight range between 13 to 15 pounds per module
Table 4.1 - Array Dead Loads and Roof Pressures
11/04/2024
APPROVED FOR CONSTRUCTION
8
PanelClaw, Inc., 1600 Osgood Street, Suite 2023, North Andover, MA 01845
(978) 688.4900 - www.panelclaw.com
1330 E Seventeenth
St4/10/2025
