l-feet are available for 5/16" lag screws or 3/8" lag screws.
They can be used with most popular mounting/flashing
products for composition shingle and shake shingle roofing
and provide an economical, high-strength base for the Alpha
system.
Tile and slate roof hooks are fabricated from high-grade
stainless steel. The Alpha Ioof hooks are designed to facili-
tate installation on existing roofs. Flat tile roof hooks are
adjustable to two riser heights allowing them to be used on
tile roofs installed with or without tile battens. The curved
tile roof hooks are designed so that the rail mounting riser
can be moved to position the niser in the valley of the tile
while still allowing the base of the roof hook to be secured
to a joist or rafter.
Hanger bolts are available for use on corrugated and flat-
panel metal roofs and for use with wood or metaJ rafters or
purlins. Hanger bolts include an L-foot preassembled with
[ail attachment hardware.;An EPDM rubber washer seals the
hanger bolt against water intrusion.
Alpha roof attachments
· Rail attachments for virtually any zoof type
· Preassembled with rail attachment hardware
· High-grade stainless steel ensures strength
and durability
· Work with all Alpha rail types
Base rails
The Alpha system comprises foUI distinct sizes of alumin;um
base rails. This allows users to choose a rail size that optimiz-
es the balance between rail attachment frequency and rail
cost. Larger, higher-strength Iails are capable of spanning
larger distances between roof attachments but, because they
are strengthened by additional metal, they cost somewhat
more per foot than lighter rails. Lighter rails cost less per
foot but may need to be attached more often. With foutrail
weights from which to choose, Alpha gives system designers
the ability to optimize based on environmental loads, labor
costs and system layout.
Alpha rails are designated 7/49, 13/58, 19/63 and 25/65. The
firstinumber is an indication of the rail's relative strength.
The second number is the height of the rail in millimetem.
Module clamps and roof attachment components are identi-
cal for all founail types which make parts availability and
inventory management simpler and more reliable for dis-
tributors and installers alike.
Rails are available in standard lengths ranging from 2 feet to
12 feet in 2-foot increments and 20 foot lengths. Stan-
dard length rails can be used to accommodate any number
of modules and are intended for use with standard Alpha
splices and the Alpha telescoping rails for precise, aestheti-
cally pleasinginstallations.Alpha Tailored Rails are available
in lengths conesponding to 2,3,4 or 5 standard 60-cell
modules with a maximum width of 3'-3.5" (1004 mm)
including end and inter-module clamps.Tailored Rails are
ideal for larger projects where installation speed is para-
mount andia small ambunt of rail projecting beyond the
modules is not critical.
Mounting Systems can also swpplY rails cut to custom lengths
up to 35 feet.1 Minimum order quantities apply. Please con-
suit Mounting Systems for more information.
Mounting Systems also makes Alpha rails available for bulk
purchasing, making it an even better value. Please consult
Mounting Systems for quantity and pricing information.
All Alpha rail is available in black anodizing for aestheti-
cally sensitive applications. Black anodized module clamps
and other Alpha system accessories such as telescoping end
pieces are al5O available.
To finish off the Alpha rails and make installations even
more aesthetically pleasing, rail end caps are available to
cover the.rail ends acid hidethe unfinished metal exposed
during rail fabrication. End caps can be customized with
your company's logo or ofher graphics, at nominal additional
cost. Please contact Mounting, Systems for costs and details.
63
f Base rail 7749
g Base Tail 13/58. 1-9163 and 25/65
1 Because of mateIial handling concerns fortails of increasing length, Mounting:Systems reammends a maximum rail length of 26 feet'(8 m) for most applications.
Alpha
2
