October 30, <br />2025 NEWPORT STRUCTURAL DESIGN – PROJECT NUMBER 2025-1305 <br /> <br />Scope of Work <br />The client requests the anchorage of a spray booth to an existing concrete slab and the lateral <br />bracing of a duct to a new roof penetration. <br />Calculations <br /> <br />Dead Loads <br /> <br />The weight of the oven is 8,500 lbs according to the manufacturer <br /> <br />Seismic Load <br /> <br />The soil site class is unknown, so it is assumed to be Site Class D, which is permissible per CBC <br />2022, Section 1613.2.3. <br />Based on the address of the site, and the USGS Seismic Maps, the response accelerations are <br />listed below: <br />Ss = 1.274 g <br />S1 = 0.456 g <br />SDS= 1.019 g <br />The Risk Category for this structure is assumed to be Category II per CBC 2022, Table 1604.5, as no <br />information has been furnished to the Engineer to indicate otherwise. <br />Ip = 1.0 <br />Based on the guidelines of CBC 2022, Section 1613.3.5, this structure should be assigned to <br />Seismic Design Category D. Furthermore, CBC 2022 refers to ASCE 7-16, Chapter 13 to determine <br />the seismic provisions for attaching these components to a structure. <br />
