Project No. VP-6214-01
Verizon Wireless — Fisher Floral
buried metallic structures (e.g. pipes) shall be properly coated,
an alternative, utility piping may be buried in PVC lined trenches
clean sand. The width of the trenches should be a minimum of three
CITY OF SANTA ANA
Planning and Building Agency
Approved
FOR PERMIT ISSUANCE
and sealed. As
kqI;Wllk5d with
Wdiameter of
the pipes. A corrosion consultant should be retained if a more detailed evaluation or a
protection system is desired.
Utilities
There are several existing utility lines on the project sites. Precautions should be taken in
advance prior to construction.
Any soft and/or unstable material encountered at the bottom of excavations for any new
utility trenches should be removed and be replaced with adequate bedding material.
The on -site soils are likely to be unsuitable for bedding or shading of utilities and piping.
A non -expansive granular material with EI less than 20 may need to be imported for this
purpose, depending on materials made available during grading.
Trench backfills should be mechanically placed and compacted in thin lifts to at least 90
percent of the maximum dry density as determined by ASTM Test Method D1557.
Flooding or jetting for placement and compaction of backfill is not recommended.
Grading Recommendations
No major grading is anticipated during construction of the equipment enclosure structure.
General Grading Procedures (If Any)
1. Any existing unsuitable materials including tree roots should be removed and
hauled off -site.
2. All recompacted native and import soil should be spread, watered or aerated,
mixed and compacted by mechanical means of approximately six-inch thick lifts.
The minimum degree of compaction obtained should be at least 90% for all
