PIPING MATERIAL NOTES: <br />1. WATER PIPE AND FITTINGS: USE TYPE "M' COPPER TUBING OR GALVANIZED <br />STEEL WATER PIPING FROM INSTALLATIONS ABOVE THE FLOOR AND FOR <br />OUTDOOR, IN GROUND LOCATIONS. FOR JOINT LESS INSTALLATIONS UNDER A <br />SLAB FLOOR, TYPE "L" COPPER MAY BE USED. APPROVED CPVC, PE OR PVC <br />WATER PIPE MAY BE USED UNDERGROUND, OUTSIDE THE BUILDING. CPVC AND <br />PEX WATER PIPE MAY BE USED WITHIN A BUILDING. INSTALL A FULL WAY VALVE <br />TO CONTROL ALL WATER OUTLETS ON THE DISCHARGE SIDE OF THE METER OR <br />AT THE BUILDING ON UNMETERED SYSTEMS. USE PIPE MAY BE INSTALLED <br />PROVIDED IT WAS PREVIOUSLY USED ONLY FROM WATER PIPING. <br />2. GAS PIPE AND FITTINGS: APPROVED PLASTIC POLYETHYLENE (PE) NATURAL <br />AND LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS (LPG) YARD PIPING AND FITTINGS MAY BE <br />INSTALLED IN EXTERIOR UNDERGROUND LOCATIONS. FOR OTHER LOCATIONS <br />USE STANDARD WEIGHT IRON, STEEL,OR BRASS, OF IRON PIPE SIZE. THE USE OF <br />CORRUGATED STAINLESS STEEL TUBING REQUIRES <br />PLANS AND PRIOR APPROVAL. <br />3. SOIL AND WASTE LINES: USUALLY HAVE A FALL OF 14" TO THE FOOT. CAST IRON, <br />ABS-DWV, OR PVC-DWV ARE USE UNDER STRUCTURES. ABS-DWV, OR PVC-DWV <br />PLASTICARE LIMITED TO THREE STORIES. ABS AND PVC ARE NOT TO BE <br />EXPOSED ON THE OUTSIDE OF A BUILDING, EXCEPT FOR VENTS PROJECTING <br />THROUGH THE ROOF. SUCH VENTS ARE BE PAINTED WITH VINYL PAINT. <br />4. SHOWERS AND TUB-SHOWER COMBINATIONS IN BUILDINGS SHALL BE <br />PROVIDED WITH INDIVIDUAL CONTROL VALVES OF THE PRESSURE BALANCE, <br />THERMOSTATIC, OR COMBINATION PRESSURE BALANCE/THERMOSTATIC <br />MIXING VALVE TYPE THAT PROVIDE SCALD AND THERMAL SHOCK PROTECTION. <br />THESE VALVES SHALL CONFORM TO ASSE 1016, “STANDARD FOR AUTOMATIC <br />COMPENSATING VALVES FOR INDIVIDUAL SHOWERS AND TUB-SHOWER <br />COMBINATIONS”, OR ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1,” STANDARD FOR PLUMBING <br />SUPPLY FITTINGS”. HANDLE POSITION STOPS SHALL BE PROVIDED ON SUCH <br />VALVES AND SHALL BE ADJUSTED PER THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS <br />TO DELIVER A MAXIMUM MIXED WATER SETTING OF 120 DEGREES. THE WATER <br />HEATER THERMOSTAT SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED A SUITABLE CONTROL FOR <br />MEETING THIS PROVISION. <br />5.PROVIDE AN APPROVED THERMAL EXPANSION TANK AT THE WATER HEATER. <br />6.PROVIDE A TEMPERATURE & PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE ON THE WATER <br />HEATER.
