<br />PROPER SIZING OF THE PIPE IS IMPORTANT SO THAT EACH GAS APPLIANCE RECEIVES ENOUGH GAS TO PERFORM PROPERLY. EACH
<br />APPLIANCE HAS A MINIMUM INPUT DEMAND IN BTUS PER HOUR. EACH TYPE OF PIPE MATERIAL ALSO HAS A DIFFERENT FLOW RATES.
<br />THE CHART BELOW GIVES SOME EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL BTU DEMANDS FROM TABLE 12-1. TO PROPERLY DETERMINING THE PIPE SIZE
<br />FOR YOUR JOB, CONSULT THE 2022 CPC, CHAPTER 12. WHEN PROVIDING GAS LOAD CALCULATIONS, THE CURRENT CODES AND
<br />TABLES MUST BE DOCUMENTED IN YOUR SUBMITTAL.
<br />TO CONVERT FROM BTUS TO CUBIC FEET PER HOUR DIVIDE BTU/1100 (EXAMPLE: 50,000 BTU BY 1100 = 45.5 CUBIC FEET OF GAS PER
<br />HOUR). SEE THE EXAMPLE ON PAGE 2 TO HELP FURTHER ILLUSTRATE THIS. TO GET BTU FROM CUBIC FEET, MULTIPLY CUBIC X FEET
<br />1100 (45.5 CUBIC FEET X 1100 = 50,000 BTU.)
<br />APPROVED GAS PIPING FITTING MATERIALS
<br />APPROVED MATERIALS ARE DESCRIBED IN SECTION CPC 2022 SECTION 1208. METALLIC PIPE, METALLIC TUBING AND PLASTIC, TUBING
<br />AND FITTINGS ARE SAMPLES OF APPROVED MATERIALS. COPPER, BRASS AND ALUMINUM ALLOY PIPING SHALL NOT BE USED EXCEPT
<br />UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS AS OUTLINED IN SECTION 1208.6 WILL REQUIRE THE SUBMITTAL OF AN ALTERNATE MATERIALS REQUEST
<br />AND BUILDING OFFICIAL APPROVAL.
<br />WATER PIPING MATERIALS WITHIN A BUILDING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SEC. 604.1 OF THE CALIFORNIA PLUMBING CODE. PEX,
<br />CPVC AND OTHER PLASTIC WATER PIPING SYSTEMS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF SEC. 604 OF
<br />THE CPC, INSTALLATION STANDARDS OF APPENDIX I OF THE CPC AND MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDED INSTALLATION STANDARDS.
<br />CPVC WATER PIPING REQUIRES A CERTIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE AS SPECIFIED IN SEC. 604.1.1 OF THE CPC PRIOR TO PERMIT
<br />ISSUANCE.
<br />CUTTING PIPE
<br />IF YOU ARE CUTTING METALLIC PIPE OR TUBING, YOU MUST REAM THE CUT OF YOUR PIPE SO YOU MAINTAIN THE FULL INSIDE
<br />DIAMETER OF THE PIPE AND BE CLEAR OF CUTTING BURRS AND DEFECTS IN THE STRUCTURE AND/OR THREADING PER SECTION
<br />1208.6.8.
<br />SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
<br />ALL INSTALLATION SHALL BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH SECTION 1210.0 FOR UNDERGROUND, COVERING, PROTECTION AGAINST
<br />CORROSION.
<br />TESTING
<br />A PRESSURE TEST, PROVIDED BY APPLICANT, IS REQUIRED PER THE 2022 CPC, SECTION 1213. TEST PRESSURE SHALL BE MEASURED
<br />WITH A MANOMETER OR WITH A PRESSURE-MEASURING DEVICE DESIGNED AND CALIBRATED TO READ, RECORD, OR INDICATE A
<br />PRESSURE LOSS DUE TO LEAKAGE DURING THE PRESSURE TEST PERIOD. THE SOURCE OF PRESSURE SHALL BE ISOLATED BEFORE
<br />THE PRESSURE TESTS ARE MADE. MECHANICAL GAUGES USED TO MEASURE TEST PRESSURES SHALL HAVE A RANGE SUCH THAT THE
<br />HIGHEST END OF THE SCALE IS NOT GREATER THAN FIVE TIMES THE TEST PRESSURE.
<br />WATER PIPING MATERIALS
<br />WATER PIPING MATERIALS WITHIN A BUILDING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SEC. 604.1 OF THE CALIFORNIA PLUMBING CODE. PEX,

<br />A.A DEDICATED 125-VOLT, 20-AMP ELECTRICAL RECEPTACLE THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE ELECTRICAL PANEL WITH A 120/240-VOLT
<br />3 CONDUCTORS, 10 AWG COPPER BRANCH CIRCUIT, WITHIN 3 FEET FROM THE WATER HEATER AND ACCESSIBLE TO THE WATER
<br />HEATER WITH NO OBSTRUCTIONS. IN ADDITION, ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
<br />i.BOTH ENDS OF THE UNUSED CONDUCTOR SHALL BE LABELED WITH THE WORK USPARE" AND BE ELECTRICALLY ISOLATED;
<br />AND
<br />ii.A SERVED SINGLE POLE CIRCUIT BREAKER SPACE IN THE ELECTRICAL PANEL ADJACENT TO THE CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR
<br />THE BRANCH CIRCUIT IN "A" ABOVE AND LABELED WITH THE WORDS "FUTURE 240V USE"; AND
<br />B.A CATEGORY ILL OR IV VENT, OR A TYPE B VENT WITH STRAIGHT PIPE BETWEEN THE OUTSIDE TERMINATION AND THE SPACE
<br />WHERE THE WATER HEATER IS INSTALLED; AND
<br />C.A CONDENSATE DRAIN THAT IS NO MORE THAN 2 INCHES HIGHER THAN THE BASE OF THE INSTALLED WATER HEATER, AND
<br />ALLOWS NATURAL DRAINING WITHOUT PUMP ASSISTANCE; AND
<br />INSPECTION
<br />WHEN THE INSTALLATION AND TESTING YOUR SYSTEM FOR LEAKS IS COMPLETE, PLEASE SCHEDULE YOUR INSPECTION
<br />ACCORDINGLY. THE INSPECTOR WILL NEED TO SEE THE COMPLETE SYSTEM BEING TESTED. YOU MUST SUPPLY THE TEST GAUGE AS
<br />DESCRIBED ABOVE. THE SYSTEM MUST BE UNDER TEST WHEN THE INSPECTOR ARRIVES. (SECTIONS 1213.3 AND SECTION 318.0)
<br />1.THE SHOWER SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH INDIVIDUAL CONTROL VALVE OF PRESSURE BALANCE, THERMOSTATIC, OR COMBINATION

<br />WATER CLOSET SHALL HAVE 15" TO ANY WALL OR OBSTRUCTION ON EACH SIDE OF ITS CENTERLINE AND 24" CLEAR SPACE IN FRONT.

<br />WATER HEATERS LOCATED IN SEISMIC DESIGN CATEGORIES C, D, E, & F, AS DEFINED BY THE BUILDING CODE, SHALL HAVE STRAPS
<br />LOCATED IN THE UPPER AND LOWER 1/3 OF ITS VERTICAL DIMENSION. (507.2 CPC).
<br />WATER CLOSETS SHALL HAVE AN AVERAGE WATER CONSUMPTION OF NOT MORE THAN 1.6 GALLONS OF WATER PER FLUSH, 1.28
<br />GALLONS PER FLUSH AFTER JULY 1, 2011. (401.3 CPC).

<br />SQUARE INCHES (0.065 M2) FOR MAKEUP AIR SHALL BE PROVIDED IN THE DOOR OR BY OTHER APPROVED MEANS.
<br />PER SECTION 301.1.1 CALGREEN AND CIVIL CODE 1101.3(c), ALL NON-COMPLIANT PLUMBING FIXTURES WITHIN THIS RESIDENCE SHALL
<br />BE REPLACED WITH WATER-CONSERVING PLUMBING FIXTURES. ANY BUILDING FINALED ON OR BEFORE 01/01/94 ARE REQUIRED TO
