Veco Design Studio
June 3, 2024
Project 10112-04
Page 2

d) The California Geological Survey Special Publication 117A states liquefaction
analysis is required for:

Structures for human occupancy, with the exception of either of the following: (A)
Single-family wood-frame or steel-frame dwellings to be built on parcels of land
for which geologic reports have been approved pursuant to paragraph (1). (B) A
single-family wood-frame or steel-frame dwelling not exceeding two stories when
that dwelling is not part of a development of four or more dwellings.

e) Since the existing structure or proposed ADU will not exceed two stories, a
detailed liquefaction analysis is not required for this project. However, we
provided recommendations for the structure to be designed to reduce the effects of
liquefaction.

f) No subsurface exploration, except for our observation of a shallow test pit in the
proposed improvement area, was conducted during the course of preparing this
report. However, we presume that the stability of the underlying soils has been
assessed and approved in conjunction with the development of the tract and the
residence. Detailed analysis of the fill settlement was beyond the scope of our
work.

g) Evaluation of the structural and geotechnical aspects of the existing residence and
other structures was beyond the scope of our services. The soils present below the
planned construction were not investigated, and therefore the quality of the soils
is not known. It is possible that the subgrade soils may impact the future
performance of the planned addition.

h) This report is subject to the Terms and Conditions enclosed to this report and
incorporated herein by reference.

2. SCOPE

The scope of services we provided was as follows:

a) Preliminary planning and preparation;

b) Review of available geologic maps covering the site area;

c) Site visit to observe the existing conditions;

d) Excavating a shallow test pit within the proposed ADU area;

e) Collecting a representative soil sample for soil classification and laboratory
testing;
