The Green Code is to improve public health, safety, and <br />general welfare by enhancing the design and construction of buildings with <br />reduced negative environmental impact and encouraging sustainable <br />construction practice as follows) <br />Division 4.1 Planning and Design. To protect, restore, enhance the <br />environmental quality of the site and respect the integrity of adjacent <br />properties. <br />Division 4.2 Energy Efficiency, To meet California Energy Standard. <br />Division 4.3 Water Efficiency and Conservation. To establish the means <br />of conserving water used indoors (at least 20% percent reduction), <br />outdoors, and in wastewater conveyance. <br />Division 4,4 Material Conservation and Resource Efficiency. To achieving <br />material conservation and resource efficiency through protection of <br />building from exterior moisture, construction waste diversion, and <br />employment of approved techniques during construction. <br />Division 4.5 Environmental Quality. To reduce the quantity of air <br />contaminants. <br />101.3 Scope. The Green Code shall apply to only newly constructed building <br />and structure. <br />202 Application. The Green Code shall be used for residential building <br />or/and low-rise residential building with occupancy group R of six stories <br />or less, or that is a one- or two-family dwelling or townhouse. <br />101.5 Referenced Applicable Codes. 2022 California Building Code, 2022 <br />California Plumbing Code, 2022 California Mechanical Code, 2022 California <br />Electrical Code, 2022 California Building Energy, and Local Municipal Code, <br />I. PLANNING AND DESIGN - Site Development <br />4.106.2 A plan is developed and implemented to manage storm water drainage <br />during construction, <br />4.106,3 The site shall be planned and developed to keep surface water away <br />from buildings, Construction plans shall indicate how site grading or a drainage <br />system will manage all surface water flows. <br />Topsoil shall be protected or saved for reuse as specified in this section. <br />Displaced topsoil shall be stockpiled for reuse in a designated area and <br />covered or protected from erosion. <br />Notes Protection from erosion Includes covering with tarps, straw, mulch, chipped <br />wood, vegetative cover, or other means acceptable to the enforcing agency to <br />protect the topsoil for later use. <br />Post -construction landscape designs shall accomplish all of the following) <br />1, Areas disrupted during construction are restored to be consistent with <br />native vegetation species and patterns. <br />2. Energy Efficiency <br />4,2011 Low-rise residential buildings shall meet or exceed the minimum standard <br />design required by the California Energy Standards. <br />III, WATER EFFICIENCY AND C❑NSERVATI❑N <br />Indoor Water Use <br />4,303A Plumbing fixtures (water closets and urinals) and fittings (faucets and <br />showerheads) shall comply with the following; <br />1. Water closets shall not exceed 1.28 gallons per flush, <br />2. Urinals shall not exceed 0.125 gallons per flush, <br />3. Showerheads shall have a maximum flow rate of note more than 1,8 gallons <br />per minute at 80 psi, <br />4. Multiple showerheads serving one shower shall not exceed 1,8 gallons per <br />minute at 80 psi, <br />5.
