CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: XX-XXXX <br />PROJECT TITLE <br /> <br />33 <br />Provisions in Section 1.08, Asphalt Concrete, of these Special Provisions related to <br />relative compaction requirements and various adjustments shall apply to this section as <br />well. <br />1.11 CRACK REPAIR AND PATCHING <br />After removing all loose materials from the street surface and street surface preparation, <br />Contractor shall crack seal all transverse, longitudinal, reflective, and block cracks that <br />are ¼" or larger with hot rubberized sealant material Polyflex Type 3 or approved equal. <br />Sealant shall be prepared and applied to the pavement cracks in conformance with all <br />manufacturers’ instructions. <br />All cracks to be sealed shall be completely clean, dry, and free of loose material, <br />vegetation, and any other foreign substance, which may cause the sealant not to adhere to <br />the crack wall. Hot compressed air or other means, approved by the Engineer, shall be <br />used to clean and dry the crack immediately prior to application of sealant. Sealant shall <br />be applied only after the cracks and adjacent asphalt concrete surfacing have been cleaned <br />and dried. <br />Sealant shall be applied with a nozzle from the bottom of the crack up to the surface in a <br />manner, which does not result in sealant bridging or entrapping air pockets. The sealant <br />shall be applied to a slightly overfilled condition and then leveled with a squeegee. The <br />overband shall not exceed 1½ inches on either side of the crack. <br />1.12 PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE (PCC) <br />PCC shall conform to Sections 200, 303 and 400 of the Standard Specifications and these <br />Special Provisions. <br />The Cleanness Value requirement of Section 200-1.4 shall be replaced with the <br />following: <br /> Tests Test Method Requirements <br /> Cleanness Value Calif. 227 <br /> Individual Test 70 min.* <br /> Moving Average 75 min.* <br />The Sand Equivalent requirement of Section 200-1.5.3 shall be replaced with the <br />following: <br /> Tests Test Method Requirements <br /> Sand Equivalent Calif. 217 <br /> Individual Test 70 min.* <br /> Moving Average 75 min.* <br />* For 2500 or less class concrete, except concrete pavement, a minimum 65 <br />Individual Test Result and a minimum 70 Moving Average will be acceptable if 2500 psi <br />28-day strength criteria of Section 201-1.1.4 are met, at a six (6) inch slump or greater. <br />505 E Central Ave <br />#B11/6/2024
