CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: XX-XXXX <br />PROJECT TITLE <br /> <br />86 <br />Foundations, and Pedestals,” of the Caltrans Standard Specifications and these Special <br />Provisions. <br />All material removed for pole foundations shall become the property of the Contractor <br />and shall be disposed of outside the site of work by and at the expense of the Contractor. <br />The height of foundations shall be 18” above grade for Type P cabinet and 4” above <br />grade for Type 332 cabinet. <br />Foundation concrete shall be vibrated to eliminate air pockets. <br />Contractor shall define exact location of all utilities in the vicinity of the new <br />foundations, by hand digging if necessary. After all utilities are established, Contractor <br />shall contact the Engineer for authorization of specific foundation location. Foundations <br />shall be hand-dug until clear of obstructions. <br />Foundations for traffic signal and luminaire mast arm poles shall be constructed to ensure <br />that the traffic signal or luminaire mast arm is perpendicular (with a tolerance of 2 from <br />perpendicular) to the adjacent tangent curb face or to the alignment as shown on the <br />plans. Foundations that do not provide the proper alignment of the traffic signal or <br />luminaire mast arm (as specified above) shall be completely removed and reconstructed <br />at the Contractor’s expense. The Contractor shall verify the proper alignment of the <br />traffic signal pole or electrolier foundation anchor bolts prior to placement of <br />Portland cement concrete. <br />As included in the contract documents, the Contractor shall locate and install foundations <br />as directed by the Engineer. No foundation shall be located within five feet of a water <br />meter or fire hydrant. <br />The top two inches of the concrete foundation shall be grouted after they are in position. <br />The exposed portions of the foundations shall be formed to present a neat appearance. <br />Replace pavement or sidewalk in kind to match existing material, color and pattern, from <br />score mark to score mark, after foundations have been installed. <br />4.14 STANDARDS, STEEL PEDESTALS AND POSTS <br />Standards, steel pedestals and posts shall conform to the provisions in Section 56-3, <br />"Standards, Poles, Pedestals, and Posts," of the Caltrans Standard Specifications and <br />these Special Provisions. <br />The Engineer shall approve the location of all standards, steel pedestals, and posts in the <br />field, prior to installation. <br />Contractor shall furnish all new nuts, bolts, washers, foundation anchors, pole caps, hand <br />hole covers, and other hardware, as required to provide the intended installation, for all <br />Contractor-furnished or relocated equipment.
