CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: XX-XXXX <br />PROJECT TITLE <br /> <br />179 <br />chlorinated and disinfected in accordance with the City of Santa Ana Disinfection <br />Guidelines included in these Procedural Guide and Design Guidelines. <br />Connection to existing water main facilities shall be made only after the successful <br />completion of pressure test, disinfection and flushing procedures. <br />7.11 BORE AND JACK, INSTALL STEEL CASING AND CARRIER PIPE <br />This section describes Bore and Jack Casing with Carrier pipe at approved locations as <br />shown on plans. Bore and Jack operations including the installation of carrier pipe shall <br />conform to the applicable provisions of Section 306 of the Standard Specifications, these <br />Special Provisions, as directed by the Engineer and as shown on the Contract Documents. <br />1. All work shall be as set forth in the rules and regulations of the division of <br />Occupational Safety and Health of the state of California. The Contractor shall <br />obtain, from the Division of Industrial Safety, a classification for each bore <br />exceeding 30-inches in diameter. <br />The boring and jacking work shall be done in conformance with the State of <br />California’s requirements. It shall be the Contractor’s responsibility to call the <br />required safety meeting with representatives from the State Division of Industrial <br />Safety prior to beginning of construction of each bore. <br />2. It is the contractor’s responsibility to be thoroughly familiarized with the project <br />area. There is no warrantee or guarantee either expressed or implied that the <br />conditions indicated by the Construction Documents or records are representative <br />of the existing field conditions throughout the project area. <br />3. Casing and carrier pipe installation shall be performed in a way that will not <br />interfere with, interrupt or endanger roadway surface, median landscaping, and <br />minimize subsidence of the surface, structures, and utilities above and in the <br />vicinity of the bore. The contractor shall be responsible for all settlement <br />resulting from boring operations and shall repair and restore damaged property to <br />its original or better condition at no additional cost to the owner. <br />4. The face of the excavation shall be protected from the collapse of the soil into the <br />pipe or casing. <br />5. Design of the jacking/receiving pit and required bearing loads to resist jacking <br />forces are the responsibility of the Contractor. The excavation method selected <br />shall be compatible with expected ground conditions. The lengths of the bore <br />shown on the Contract Documents are not representative of required boring. It is <br />the Contractor’s responsibility to develop working drawings detailing the bore <br />and jack process. <br />6.
