MECHANICAL SPECIFICATIONS
<br />30. THE DESIGN ON THE DRAWINGS (ELECTRICAL, STRUCTURAL, ETC.) IS BASED ON THE
<br />MANUFACTURER LISTED. IF THE UNIT IS FURNISHED BY ONE OF THE OTHER LISTED
<br />MANUFACTURERS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY

<br />31.ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE CONDUIT AND PULL WIRING FOR
<br />CONTROLS. FINAL CONNECTION TO CONTROLS SHALL BE BY MECHANICAL
<br />CONTRACTOR.
<br />32. REFRIGERANT PIPING:
<br />A.ALL REFRIGERANT PIPING SHALL BE REFRIGERATION GRADE TYPE ACR DEGREASED,
<br />SEALED AT MILL COPPER TUBING.
<br />B.CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH A SWEAT TYPE COMBINATION SIGHT GLASS AND
<br />MOISTURE INDICATOR. INCLUDE IN THE REFRIGERATION PIPING A FILTER/DRYER.
<br />C.A SWEAT TYPE 3 WAY VALVE SHALL BE INSTALLED IN THE LIQUID LINE FOR CHARGING
<br />AND EVACUATING.
<br />D.HANGERS AND SUPPORTS:
<br />1)ALL TUBING SHALL BE SECURELY SUPPORTED AND ANCHORED WITH "UNISTRUT"
<br />OR EQUAL CLAMPS AND CHANNELS; RUBBER GROMMETS SHALL BE USED
<br />BETWEEN TUBING AND CLAMPS TO PROTECT THE TUBING FROM POSSIBLE
<br />RUBBING.
<br />33. CHARGING:
<br />A.THE PROPER AMOUNT OF REFRIGERANT SHALL BE CHARGED INTO THE SYSTEM
<br />THROUGH THE LIQUID LINE. THE OIL LEVEL SHALL BE CHECKED AND OIL EITHER ADDED
<br />OR REMOVED TO BRING THE LEVEL IN THE COMPRESSOR TO THE MIDDLE OF THE
<br />SIGHT GLASS.
<br />B.BEFORE ANY MOTORS ARE OPERATED, THE LUBRICATION SHALL BE CHECKED AND OIL
<br />OR GAS ADDED WHERE NECESSARY.
<br />1.THE WORK SHALL COMPLY WITH AND BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING LEGALLY
<br />CONSTITUTED AUTHORITIES AND CODES HAVING JURISDICTION.
<br />2.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH ALL MATERIAL, LABOR, EQUIPMENT, APPURTENANCES, AND OTHER
<br />CONTRACTUAL EXPENSES REQUIRED FOR THE COMPLETE INSTALLATION OF THE MECHANICAL WORK TO THE
<br />SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER, ARCHITECT, AND ENGINEER.
<br />3.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL GUARANTEE ALL EQUIPMENT, APPARATUS, ACCESSORIES (I.E., THE ENTIRE
<br />INSTALLATION) AS FURNISHED BY HIM FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIR OR
<br />REPLACE ANY ITEM WHICH MAY PROVE DEFECTIVE WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR FROM THE DATE THE APPARATUS IS
<br />ACCEPTED AND PLACED IN OPERATION WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER.
<br />4.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AND PAY FOR ALL PERMITS, LICENSES, AND INSPECTIONS REQUIRED TO
<br />COMPLETE THE MECHANICAL WORK.
<br />5.BEFORE SUBMITTING BIDS FOR THE WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE A THOROUGH FIELD SURVEY OF THE
<br />WORK TO DETERMINE ANY EXISTING INTERFERENCES THAT MAY AFFECT THE INSTALLATION OF THE WORK. BY
<br />THE ACT OF SUBMITTING A BID, THE CONTRACTOR IS DEEMED TO HAVE MADE FIELD SURVEY AND HAS ACCEPTED
<br />THE EXISTING CONDITIONS THAT MAY AFFECT HIS WORK. APPOINTMENTS FOR FIELD SURVEY SHALL BE MADE
<br />THROUGH THE OWNER REPRESENTATIVE.
<br />6.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CUTTING, AND PATCHING TO COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION
<br />OF THE MECHANICAL WORK IF APPLICABLE. ALL EXPOSED FINISHED AREAS THAT ARE DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF
<br />THIS WORK SHALL BE REPAIRED TO MATCH THE EXISTING CONDITIONS AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER.
<br />7.ALL CONSTRUCTION SITES SHALL BE PROPERLY PROTECTED WITH BARRICADES, WARNING FLAGS, FENCING, AND
<br />LIGHTS AS REQUIRED BY CODE AND THE OWNER'S SECURITY DEPARTMENT. PROVIDE SHORING, BRACING, AND
<br />ACCESS LADDERS AS REQUIRED BY CODE. TAKE EXTRA CARE TO INSTRUCT ALL PERSONNEL ON SAFETY
<br />PROCEDURES. TAKE CARE TO AVOID DAMAGE TO ADJACENT DUCTWORK, PIPING AND ELECTRIC SERVICES.
<br />8.ALL UTILITY SHUT-DOWNS SHALL BE SCHEDULED AT LEAST TWO (2) DAYS IN ADVANCE THROUGH THE OWNER.
<br />PROVIDE CONTINUOUS "FIRE WATCH GUARD" TO ALL AREAS AFFECTED BY SHUT-DOWN OF ANY FIRE
<br />PROTECTION WATER SERVICE. THE CONTRACTOR'S OPERATION SHALL CAUSE NO UNNECESSARY
<br />INCONVENIENCE TO THE BUILDING'S PREMISES. THE ACCESS RIGHTS TO THE PUBLIC SHALL BE CONSIDERED AT
<br />ALL TIMES.
<br />9.SHOP DRAWINGS AND MATERIAL LISTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE ENGINEER FOR REVIEW AT LEAST THIRTY
<br />(30) DAYS PRIOR TO THE START OF ANY WORK. NO WORK INDICATED ON ANY OF THE PLANS OR SHOP DRAWINGS
<br />SHALL BE PERFORMED, UNTIL THE SHOP DRAWINGS HAVE BEEN REVIEWED BY THE ENGINEER.
<br />10.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT TWO (2) COMPLETE SETS OF AS-BUILT DRAWINGS, AND OPERATIONAL AND
<br />MAINTENANCE MANUALS TO THE OWNER AS PERMANENT RECORDS AT SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF WORK,
<br />BEFORE FINAL PAYMENT CAN BE APPROVED BY THE OWNER REPRESENTATIVE.
<br />11.ALL EQUIPMENT SHALL BE AS SCHEDULED ON THE PLANS. ANY EQUIPMENT SUBSTITUTION SHALL BE THE
<br />CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT IT MEETS ALL THE REQUIREMENTS SUCH AS CAPACITY,
<br />DIMENSIONS, ELECTRICAL DATA, ETC. OF THE SPECIFIED EQUIPMENT SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS.
<br />12.DUCTWORK SHALL BE PROVIDED AS FOLLOWS:
<br />A.ALL SHEET METAL DUCTWORK SHALL BE NEW GALVANIZED SHEET METAL UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE IN
<br />PLANS. DUCT GAUGES, CONSTRUCTION, SUPPORT, SEISMIC RESTRAINT, AND INSTALLATION SHALL BE IN
<br />ACCORDANCE WITH THE CALIFORNIA MECHANICAL CODE, 2022 EDITION.
<br />B.FLEXIBLE DUCTWORK SHALL BE CASCO "CAL-FLEX" FULLY LINED, UL AND NFPA RATED, INSULATED
<br />FIBERGLASS DUCT. FACTORY MADE FLEXIBLE AIR DUCTS AND CONNECTORS SHALL BE NOT MORE THAN FIVE
<br />(5) FEET IN LENGTH AND SHALL NOT BE USED IN LIEU OF RIGID ELBOWS OR FITTINGS. [2022 CMC 603.4.1]
<br />C.FLEXIBLE DUCT CONNECTIONS SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL DUCTWORK ATTACHED TO AIR MOVING
<br />EQUIPMENT. FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS SHALL BE VENTFABRICS "VENTGLASS LA" TYPE 30 OUNCE CLOSELY
<br />WOVEN GLASS FABRIC DOUBLE COATED WITH NEOPRENE. PROVIDE SHEET METAL WEATHERCOVER OVER
<br />FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS EXPOSED TO WEATHER. NOT APPLICABLE TO GREASE DUCTWORK.
<br />D.ALL TRANSVERSE JOINTS AND LONGITUDINAL SEAMS SHALL BE SEALED. PRESSURE SENSITIVE TAPE SHALL
<br />NOT BE USED AS PRIMARY SEALANT.
<br />E.ALL COMBINATION FIRE/SMOKE DAMPERS SHALL BE TESTED AND LISTED UNDER BOTH UL 555 AND UL 555S.
<br />UNITS SHALL BE FACTORY SUPPLIED ASSEMBLIES THAT CONSIST OF DAMPER, SLEEVE, AND APPROVED
<br />ACTUATOR. DAMPERS SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM CLASS II LEAKAGE AND DYNAMIC CLOSURE RATING UNDER UL
<br />555S, POTTORFF MODEL FSD 142 OR APPROVED EQUAL. DAMPERS SHALL BE LIKED TO FIRE ALARM SYSTEM

<br />13.DIFFUSERS, REGISTERS, AND GRILLES HAVE BEEN SIZED ON THE BASIS OF MANUFACTURER AND TYPE
<br />INDICATED ON THE PLANS. ALL DIFFUSERS, REGISTERS, AND GRILLES SHALL BE LOCATED TO OPERATE WITHOUT
<br />OBJECTIONABLE NOISE OR DRAFTS.
<br />14.PIPING SHALL BE PROVIDED AS FOLLOWS:

<br />3) ALL LINES SHALL BE STRAIGHT AND FREE FROM KINKS OR RESTRICTIONS AND SHALL BE PROPERLY
<br />WRAPPED TO MINIMIZE VIBRATIONS.
<br />B. ALL SWEAT TYPE COPPER FITTINGS SHALL BE WROUGHT COPPER. ALL ELBOWS AND RETURN BENDS SHALL

<br />D. FOR REFRIGERANT LINE LENGTHS THAT EXCEED 50 EQUIVALENT FEET, VERIFY REFRIGERANT PIPE SIZING

<br />E. ALL PIPING, EXCEPT WHERE EXISTING PIPING IS INDICATED TO BE REUSED, SHALL BE NEW PIPING
<br />MATERIALS. PIPING SCHEDULE, MATERIALS, CONSTRUCTION, SUPPORT, SEISMIC RESTRAINT, AND INSTALLATION

<br />23.PIPING AND COMPONENTS SHALL BE SPACED SO THAT A THREADED PIPE FITTING MAY BE REMOVED BETWEEN
<br />ADJACENT PIPES. NOT LESS THAN 1/2-INCH OF CLEAR SPACE SHALL EXIST BETWEEN THE FINISHED SURFACE

<br />24.PROVISION AND INSTALLATION OF CONDUIT AND WIRING FOR MECHANICAL CONTROLS AND ITS FINAL
<br />CONNECTION TO RELATED CONTROLS SHALL BE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR

<br />25.SHEET METAL PLENUMS TO BE FIELD FABRICATED. SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS OF CONSTRUCTION TO ENGINEER
<br />FOR REVIEW.
<br />26.FIRE RATED SEALS SHALL BE PROVIDED AT ALL PENETRATIONS THROUGH FIRE RATED AREAS.
<br />27.BALANCE AND ADJUST ALL FANS, DIFFUSERS, REGISTERS AND GRILLES FOR OPTIMUM AIR DISTRIBUTION AND
<br />MINIMUM NOISE. SUBMIT A QUALIFIED AIR BALANCE REPORT BY INDEPENDENT AABC REGISTERED AIR BALANCE
<br />CONTRACTOR TO THE ENGINEER FOR REVIEW.
<br />28.AT THE COMPLETION OF THE WORK, ALL PARTS OF THE INSTALLATION SHALL BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED. ALL
<br />FIXTURES, VALVES, PIPES, AND FITTINGS SHALL BE CLEANED OF GREASE, METAL CUTTINGS, SLUDGE, AND
<br />OTHER DEBRIS THAT MAY HAVE ACCUMULATED DURING INSTALLATION.
<br />29.THE OWNER SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LEGAL REMOVAL AND OR ABATEMENT OF ASBESTOS INSULATION.
