Provide not less than 72 hours' notice to Owner if shutdown of service is required <br />during changeover. <br /> <br />B. Utility Requirements: Locate, identify, disconnect, and seal or cap off indicated utility services <br />serving structures to be demolished. <br />1. Arrange to shut off indicated utilities with utility companies. <br />C. Utility Requirements: Refer to Division 33 Sections and Contract Drawings, for shutting off, <br />disconnecting, removing, and sealing or capping utility services. Do not start demolition work <br />until utility disconnecting and sealing have been completed and verified in writing. <br /> <br />3.03 PREPARATION <br /> <br />A. Drain, purge, or otherwise remove, collect, and dispose of chemicals, gases, explosives, acids, <br />flammables, or other dangerous materials before proceeding with demolition operations. <br /> <br />B. Conduct demolition operations and remove debris to ensure minimum interference with roads, <br />streets, walks, and other adjacent occupied and used facilities. <br />1. Do not close or obstruct streets, walks, or other adjacent occupied or used facilities <br />without permission from Owner and authorities having jurisdiction. Provide alternate <br />routes around closed or obstructed traffic ways if required by governing regulations. <br />C. Conduct demolition operations to prevent injury to people and damage to adjacent buildings and <br />facilities to remain. Ensure safe passage of people around demolition area. <br />D. Erect temporary protection, such as walks, fences, railings, canopies, and covered passageways, <br />where required by authorities having jurisdiction. <br />E. Protect existing site improvements, appurtenances, and landscaping to remain. <br />1. Erect a plainly visible fence around drip line of individual trees or around perimeter drip <br />line of groups of trees to remain. <br /> <br />3.04 CUTTING EXISTING CONCRETE <br /> <br /> A. Cutting of existing concrete shall be done by experienced workers familiar with the <br />requirements and space necessary for placing concrete. Perform concrete cutting with <br />concrete cutting wheels and hand chisels. Take care not to damage concrete that is intended to <br />remain. <br /> <br /> B. Extent of cutting of concrete shall be as indicated on drawings and in accordance with <br />standard plans for public works construction plan no. 132-3. Replace concrete that is removed <br />in excess of amount indicated or required. <br /> <br /> C. Prior to cutting or coring concrete, determine locations of hidden utilities and take necessary <br />measures to protect them from damage. <br />
