Paint pavement, curbs and other surfaces, as shown on the Drawings. Painting shall be <br />straight, uniform, exact and sharp without blobs at the start and finish. Edges shall be even, <br />accurate, symmetrical and free of fuzziness. <br /> <br />G. Apply markings for disabled access symbols in accordance with State of California Building <br />Code, Part 2, Title 24, CCR. <br /> <br />H. Where work consists of modifications of, or additions to existing parking striping, match existing <br />color and width of lines as closely as possible. <br /> <br />3.11 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL <br /> <br />A. Testing Agency: Owner will engage a qualified independent testing agency to perform field <br />inspections and tests and to prepare test reports. <br />1. Testing agency will conduct and interpret tests and state in each report whether tested <br />Work complies with or deviates from specified requirements. <br /> <br />B. Additional testing, at Contractor's expense, will be performed to determine compliance of <br />corrected Work with specified requirements. <br /> <br />C. Thickness: In-place compacted thickness of hot-mix asphalt courses will be determined <br />according to ASTM D 3549. <br /> <br />D. Surface Smoothness: Finished surface of each hot-mix asphalt course will be tested for <br />compliance with smoothness tolerances. <br /> <br />E. Perform flood tests on asphalt paved areas to determine if surface grades allow proper runoff <br />of surface water and if drainage devices function properly. Such tests shall be conducted in <br />the presence of the Architect and the Owner. Promptly correct paving work found to be <br />defective due to ponding of water or improper drainage. <br /> <br />F. In-Place Density tests will be performed using nuclear gauge (ASTM D 2950-05) to verify at <br />least 95 percent relative compaction of the Hveem density has been achieved. Representative <br />samples of the AC will be collected and tested in the laboratory for Hveem density (ASTM D <br />2726-05a), theoretical maximum density (ASTM D 2041-03a), stability (ASTM D 1560-05), <br />gradation (ASTM C 136-05), and asphalt content (ASTM D 6307-05). <br /> <br />G. Remove and replace or install additional hot-mix asphalt where test results or measurements <br />indicate that it does not comply with specified requirements. <br /> <br /> <br />END OF SECTION
