Adjustment to Concrete Mixes: Mix design adjustments may be requested by Contractor <br />when characteristics of materials, project conditions, weather, test results, or other <br />circumstances warrant. <br /> <br />D. Admixtures: Comply with requirements specified in Division 3 Section "Cast -In-Place <br />Concrete". <br /> <br />2.8 CONCRETE MIXING <br /> <br />A. Ready-Mixed Concrete: Comply with requirements and with ASTM C 94. <br />1. When air temperature is between 85 deg F (30 deg C) and 90 deg F (32 deg C), reduce <br />mixing and delivery time from 1-1/2 hours to 75 minutes; when air temperature is <br />above 90 deg F (32 deg C), reduce mixing and delivery time to 60 minutes. <br />2.9 GROUT <br />A. Grout shall be mixed in the proportions of one part Portland cement to two parts sand, by <br />volume. Only sufficient water shall be used to enable grout to barely hold its shape when <br />squeezed into a ball in the hand. Sand for grout shall be "Fine Aggregate", conforming to <br />ASTM C 33. <br />B. Non-shrink grout shall be pre-mixed non-shrinking, high strength grout. Compressive <br />strength in 28 days shall be 5,000 psi minimum, but in no case less than the specified strength <br />of the adjacent concrete. Manufacturer shall provide evidence that the material meets the <br />requirements of the COE CRD-C 621 (558). Grout permanently exposed to view shall be <br />non-oxidizing; metallic grout may be used in other locations. <br />1. Non-shrink grout shall be one of the following or approved equal: <br /> <br /> Manufacturer Product <br /> Gifford-Hill Co. Supreme <br /> Master Builders Co. Embeco <br /> U.S. Grout Corporation Five Star Grout <br />2.10 SANDBLASTING MATERIAL <br />A. Material for sandblasting shall be 16/20 mesh sand. <br /> <br />2.11 HERBICIDE TREATMENT <br /> <br />A. Commercial chemical for weed control, registered by Environmental Protection Agency. <br />Provide granular, liquid, or wettable powder form. <br />1. Available Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, manufacturers <br />offering products that may be incorporated in the work include, but are not limited to <br />the following: <br />a. Ciba-Geigy Corp. <br />b. Dow Chemical U.S.A. <br />c. E.I. Du Pont de Nemours & Co., Inc. <br />d. FMC Corp. <br />e. Thompson-Hayward Chemical Co. <br />f. U.S. Borax and Chemical Corp. <br />
