Do not apply repair mortar when substrate or ambient air temperature is less than 50°F nor <br />more than 80°F, or as stated in manufacturer’s written instructions. <br />B. Maintain a minimum ambient temperature of 50 degrees F during installation of repair <br />mortar and during curing, or as stated in manufacturer’s written instructions. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.1 MANUFACTURERS <br />A. Products listed below are by Sika Corporation, except as otherwise specified. <br />B. Substitutions: Not permitted. <br />2.2 MATERIALS <br />A. Patching Mortar: Sika Repair SHB. <br />B. Mixing Liquid: Sika Latex R. <br />C. Aggregate: For patches greater than 2 in. thick, extend mortar with 3/8 in. pea gravel. <br />D. Anti-Corrosion Coating: Sika Armatec 110 EpoCem. <br />2.3 ACCESSORIES <br />A. Drilled anchors: Tapcon with Stalgard coating by Elco Industries. Length of anchor shall be <br />sufficient to provide a minimum of 1-1/2 in. embedment into sound substrate; various <br />lengths will be required. Use with stainless steel wire, 18 gauge. <br />B. Slurry Coat: Add water to a small amount of mortar mix until a thick consistency slurry coat <br />is obtained. <br />C. Tie Wire: Tie wire shall be #16 gauge stainless steel annealed. <br />D. Stainless steel wire mesh. <br />E. Curing Compound: Do not use curing compounds. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.1 EXAMINATION <br />A. Spalls: Check for incipient spalls by tapping the wall and slab surfaces and listening for a <br />hollow sound indicating delamination. Remove all such delaminated concrete until sound <br />concrete is found. <br />B. Cracks: Locate all cracks. Notify Architect of any cracks wider than 1/16 in.
