<br /> <br /> Page 78 of 111 <br /> <br />Report No.: 2410B0143SHA-001 <br /> <br />TRF No. ANSI/CAN/UL 9540A_Unit <br /> <br />Attachment 4 Thermal runaway preparation <br /> <br />The propensity of the cell to exhibit thermal runaway was demonstrated by heating the cell with externally <br />applied flexible film heaters that cover as much of the cell case as possible without covering safety features <br />and terminals, for consistent heating of the internal cell electrode assembly. <br /> <br />So, external heating method was used to initiate thermal runaway in the module. <br /> <br />2 flexible film heaters, rated 220VAC/700W, sized 180*280mm, were pasted on two wide sides of cell 6. <br /> <br />To monitor the temperature of cells inside the module, 12 thermocouples (T1 to T13), Type K, were used <br />inside the module and thermocouples were attached on the surface of cells. <br /> <br />A heating rate of 4°C to 7°C per minute was applied to the cell 6 surface.
