<br />GENERAL NOTES
<br />1.ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE "STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION" AS WRITTEN AND PROMULGATED BY THE 2018 EDITION
<br />OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAPTER OF THE A.P.W.A. A.G.C.C. JOINT COOPERATIVE COMMITTEE HEREIN REFERRED TO AS THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS AND THE CITY OF
<br />SANTA ANA STANDARD PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS (UNLESS SPECIFICALLY NOTED OTHERWISE OR IN THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS FOR THIS PROJECT).
<br />2.THE EXISTENCE AND LOCATION OF ANY UNDERGROUND UTILITY OR STRUCTURE SHOWN ON THESE PLANS ARE OBTAINED BY A SEARCH OF AVAILABLE RECORDS. NO
<br />CERTIFICATION IS MADE AS TO ACCURACY OR THOROUGHNESS OF THESE RECORDS. APPROVAL OF THIS PLAN BY THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN
<br />EXISTENCE OR NONEXISTENCE OF ANY UNDERGROUND UTILITY OR SUBSTRUCTURE WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THIS PROJECT. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
<br />CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY THE LOCATION OF ALL EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES (BY POTHOLING OR OTHER MEANS). THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY UNDERGROUND
<br />SERVICE ALERT (811) 48 HOURS BEFORE ANY EXCAVATION.
<br />3.THESE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS WERE CREATED FROM DIGITIZED BASE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE CITY OF SANTA ANA EXACT LAYOUTS OF ALL HARDSCAPE
<br />ELEMENTS MAY NEED TO BE MODIFIED AND SOME FIELD ADJUSTMENTS MAY BE NECESSARY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INCLUDE AS PART OF THE BID, TIME AND LABOR FOR ANY
<br />MODIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE INTENT OF THE DRAWINGS.
<br />4.GENERAL: ALL LOCAL, MUNICIPAL, COUNTY AND STATE LAWS, RULES, AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING OR RELATING TO ANY PORTION OF THIS WORK ARE HEREBY
<br />INCORPORATED INTO AND MADE PART OF THE PROJECT PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS; AND THEIR PROVISIONS SHALL BE CARRIED OUT BY THE CONTRACTOR. ADDITIONALLY,
<br />ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPLICABLE SECTIONS STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION, APWA STANDARD PLANS,
<br />STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION (GREEN BOOK), AND THE PROJECT'S SPECIFICATIONS
<br />5.DAMAGE RESPONSIBILITY: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES IMPOSED, INTENTIONALLY OR ACCIDENTALLY, TO EXISTING UTILITIES,
<br />BUILDINGS, OR OTHER AMENITIES, DUE TO THE ACTIONS OF THE CONTRACTORS, CONTRACTOR'S EMPLOYEES AND/OR CONTRACTOR'S SUBCONTRACTORS.
<br />6.SITE DEBRIS: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL KEEP THE PREMISES CLEAN AND FREE OF EXCESS EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS AND RUBBISH INCIDENTAL TO HIS WORK. ALL RUBBLE,
<br />TRASH, DEBRIS OR UNWANTED MATERIALS RESULTING FROM DEMOLITION OR CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE DISPOSED OF IN A LEGAL AND LAWFUL MANNER TO AN APPROVED
<br />DISPOSAL SITE. IF DEBRIS REMAINS ON SITE FOR MORE THAN 12 HOURS, UNLESS PRE-APPROVED BY THE CITY, SUCH DEBRIS SHALL BE REMOVED BY THE ENGINEER AT THE
<br />EXPENSE OF THE CONTRACTOR.
<br />7.FIELD OBSERVATION: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE AND VERIFY ALL IN-FIELD LAYOUT, DIMENSIONING OF WORK, AND WORK SCHEDULES UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
<br />THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CAREFULLY INSPECT THE SITE AND SHALL VERIFY ALL CONDITIONS AND DIMENSIONS PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH ANY WORK UNDER THIS
<br />CONTRACT. ANY DISCREPANCIES IN THESE DOCUMENTS SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT WILLFULLY IMPLEMENT ANY
<br />WORK DESCRIBED IN THESE DOCUMENTS WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY IN ERROR, INTERFERES WITH EXISTING SITE FEATURES, OR CAUSES PROJECT COMPLICATION OR HARM. THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING THE SCALE OF THE DRAWING. WRITTEN DIMENSIONS TAKE PREFERENCE OVER SCALED DIMENSIONS AND SHALL BE
<br />VERIFIED ON THE JOB SITE AND ANY DISCREPANCY SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL PROPERTY LINES, LOT
<br />LINES, AND EASEMENTS PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PERSONALLY VERIFYING WITH THE ENGINEER THAT ALL
<br />COPIES OF THE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE CURRENT AND APPROVED FOR CONSTRUCTION.
<br />8.MUNICIPAL/COUNTY REQUIREMENTS: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL THE NECESSARY PERMITS AND AGENCY INSPECTIONS PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF WORK.
<br />ANY PERMITS, FEES, AND AGENCY INSPECTIONS REQUIRED SHALL BE PAID BY THE CONTRACTOR. IN THE EVENT THAT THE CITY HAS OBTAINED PERMITS, LICENSES OR OTHER
<br />AUTHORIZATIONS APPLICABLE TO THE WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH THE PROVISIONS OF SAID PERMIT, LICENSES AND OTHER AUTHORIZATIONS APPLICABLE
<br />TO THE WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL GIVE ALL NOTICES NECESSARY AND INCIDENT TO THE DUE AND LAWFUL PROSECUTION OF THE WORK FOR THIS PROJECT. THE
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO ACQUIRE ALL NECESSARY RIGHT-OF-WAY ENCROACHMENT PERMITS REQUIRED FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL AND LANE CLOSURES FROM THE CITY OF
<br />SANTA ANA. ENCROACHMENT PERMIT SHALL BE OBTAINED BY THE CONTRACTOR IN SUFFICIENT TIME TO PREVENT DELAYS TO THE WORK NECESSARY TO THE WORK
<br />NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT. THE CONTRACTOR ACKNOWLEDGES THAT HE HAS VISITED THE SITE AND IS FAMILIAR WITH AND HAS PROVIDED FOR THE
<br />CONDITIONS THAT EXIST HEREIN AND THAT HE HAS CHECKED WITH THE APPROPRIATE GOVERNING AGENCIES AND HAS MADE PROVISIONS FOR ANY AND ALL REQUIREMENTS
<br />OF THOSE AGENCIES.
<br />9.SITE SECURITY: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL AT ALL TIMES PROTECT HIS WORK FROM DAMAGE AND THEFT AND REPLACE ALL DAMAGED OR STOLEN PARTS AT HIS EXPENSE UNTIL
<br />THE WORK IS ACCEPTED IN WRITING BY THE CITY. CONTRACTOR IS LIABLE FOR ALL DAMAGE OR INJURY CAUSED BY ANY WORK OR STORAGE OF MATERIALS ON THE SITE.
<br />10.EXISTING UTILITIES: EXTREME CARE SHALL BE EXERCISED WHILE WORKING NEAR EXISTING UTILITIES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE LOCATION AND CONDITION OF ALL
<br />UTILITIES AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES BEYOND THE LIMIT OF WORK DUE TO WORK PERFORMED BY THE CONTRACTOR OR OF ANY AGENTS OF THE CONTRACTOR.
<br />ALL DAMAGE TO EXISTING SITE FEATURES BEYOND THE LIMIT OF WORK DUE TO WORK PERFORMED BY THE CONTRACTOR OR ANY SUBCONTRACTOR SHALL BE THE
<br />RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO REESTABLISH SERVICE IN A TIMELY MANNER.
<br />11.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PERSONALLY VERIFYING WITH THE ENGINEER THAT ALL COPIES OF THE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS
<br />ARE CURRENT AND APPROVED FOR CONSTRUCTION.
<br />12.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE AS REQUESTED BY THE CITY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ADHERE TO THE SCHEDULE AS
<br />INCORPORATED INTO THE CITY ENGINEER'S (OR HIS/HERS REPRESENTATIVE'S) MASTER SCHEDULE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ADHERE TO THE CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE
<br />UNLESS NOTIFIED IN WRITING BY THE CITY ENGINEER.
<br />13.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL FIELD OBSERVATIONS WITH THE OWNER AND NOTIFY BOTH THE OWNER AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT AT LEAST 48 HOURS (TWO
<br />WORKING DAYS) IN ADVANCE OF ALL FIELD OBSERVATIONS. IF THE CONTRACTOR CALLS FOR A FIELD OBSERVATION FOR WHICH HE IS NOT PREPARED, HE SHALL BE
<br />RESPONSIBLE FOR REIMBURSING THE ENGINEER OR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT AT THEIR CURRENT HOURLY BILLING RATE, PLUS ANY TRANSPORTATION COST AND/OR
<br />REPRODUCTIONS.
