<br />SCOPE OF WORK
<br />1.THE PROJECT IS NEW PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM CONSISTING OF SOLAR ARRAY(S) AND ASSOCIATED POWER
<br />CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT.
<br />2.ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL COMPLY WITH THE ADOPTED EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE AND
<br />ELECTRIC CODE AS SPECIFIED IN THE PROJECT SPECIFIC NOTES.
<br />3.IT SHALL ALSO COMPLY WITH ALL APPLICABLE CITY, COUNTY, STATE AND LOCAL ELECTRICAL UTILITY CODES,
<br />RULES AND REGULATIONS.
<br />4.THE SYSTEM WILL BE INTERCONNECTED TO THE ELECTRICAL UTILITY GRID IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
<br />REQUIREMENTS OF THE ADOPTED ELECTRIC AND THE ELECTRICAL UTILITY COMPANY.
<br />5.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE LABOR FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE ARRAY AND INSTALLATION OF ALL
<br />ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. THE CONTRACTOR WILL PROVIDE COMPETENT SUPERVISION FOR THE WORK TO BE
<br />ACCOMPLISHED. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS FOR APPROVAL BY OWNER AS REQUESTED.
<br />GENERAL
<br />1.THE ACTUAL SYSTEM EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM ARE INCLUDED IN THE PV
<br />SYSTEM SPECIFICATION ON THE TITLE PAGE AND THROUGHOUT THE DRAWING AS NECESSARY FOR CLARITY.IN
<br />ADDITION THE ACTUAL VENDOR SPECIFICATION DATA SHEETS WILL BE INCLUDED AS PART OF THE PERMIT
<br />SUBMITTAL.
<br />2.ONLY NEW MATERIAL WILL BE INSTALLED AS PART OF THE PROJECT. ALL NEW INSTALLED EQUIPMENT WILL BE
<br />APPROPRIATELY LISTED AND NEMA RATED. ALL NEW EQUIPMENT SHALL HAVE PERMANENT PLASTIC
<br />ENGRAVED IDENTIFICATION TAGS INSTALLED.
<br />3.DRAWINGS ARE DIAGRAMMATIC IN NATURE AND CANNOT SHOW EVERY CONNECTION, JUNCTION BOX,
<br />WIRE,CONDUIT, ETC. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING A COMPLETE AND FUNCTIONAL
<br />ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
<br />4.CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL POWER OUTAGES WITH THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE IN ADVANCE.
<br />5.PANEL DESIGNATIONS SHOWN ON THESE DRAWINGS ARE GIVEN FOR CLARIFICATION OF THE CIRCUITING ONLY
<br />AND MAY NOT CORRESPOND TO THE DESIGNATIONS FOUND IN THE FIELD.
<br />6.ELECTRICAL TESTING SHALL BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH NFPA 70E CONDUIT AND WIRE
<br />CONDUIT AND CONDUCTORS
<br />1.ALL EXISTING CONDUIT RUNS ARE NOT SHOWN. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY EXISTING CONDUIT LOCATIONS IN
<br />FIELD.
<br />2.ALL CONDUCTORS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN A RACEWAY AS SPECIFIED IN THE DRAWINGS. THE EXCEPTION IS PV
<br />SOURCE CIRCUIT CONDUCTORS MADE OF PV WIRE CABLE. THESE CONDUCTORS MAY BE EXPOSED WITHIN THE PV
<br />ARRAY.
<br />3.INDOOR EMT FITTINGS MAY BE COMPRESSION TYPE OR STEEL SET SCREW TYPE. OUTDOOR EMT FITTINGS
<br />MUST BE COMPRESSION RAIN-TIGHT TYPE.
<br />4.A PULL ROPE SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ALL EMPTY CONDUITS.
<br />5.CONDUCTORS MATERIAL, EITHER COPPER OR ALUMINUM IN SPECIFIED IN THE DRAWINGS. CONDUCTOR
<br />INSULATION TYPE SHALL BE THHW - 2 UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
<br />6.ALL SERVICE, FEEDER AND BRANCH CONDUCTORS SHALL BE IDENTIFIED TO MATCH THE EXISTING BUILDING OR
<br />STRUCTURE IDENTIFICATION SCHEME PER CEC 200.6, 210.5 AND 215.12. WHERE MORE THAN ONE NOMINAL
<br />VOLTAGE SYSTEM EXIST IN A BUILDING OR STRUCTURE, EACH UNGROUNDED CONDUCTOR SHALL BE IDENTIFIED
<br />BY PHASE AND SYSTEM. THE IDENTIFICATION SCHEME SHALL BE PERMANENTLY POSTED AT EACH PANELBOARD
<br />OR SWITCHBOARD. IF THE BUILDING OR STRUCTURE DOES NOT HAVE AN EXISTING SCHEME, USE THE
<br />FOLLOWING.
<br />7.CONDUCTORS SIZED #6 AWG AND BELOW SHALL BE COLOR CODED WITH COLORED INSULATION. CONDUCTORS
<br />SIZED #4 AWG AND LARGER SHALL BE IDENTIFIED WITH COLORED TAPE AT ALL TERMINATIONS, JUNCTIONS BOXES
<br />AND PULL BOXES. ALL CURRENT CARRYING CONDUCTORS #10 AWG AND LARGER SHALL BE STRANDED.
<br />8.ALL ELECTRICAL WIRING AND EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN PROPERLY DESIGNED FOR OVERLOAD PROTECTION
<br />9.WHERE WIRING AND CONDUIT SIZES ARE INDICATED FOR HOMERUNS, THESE SIZES APPLY TO THE ENTIRE
<br />LENGTH FROM THE PROTECTIVE DEVICE IN THE PANEL TO THE EQUIPMENT OR LAST WIRING DEVICE.
<br />10.ALL CONDUIT PENETRATIONS THROUGH ROOFS, FLOORS OR WALLS SHALL BE MADE WATER TIGHT BY PROPER
<br />FLASHING, CAULKING OR SEALING.
<br />11.WHERE PORTIONS OF A RACEWAY ARE PASSING FROM INTERIOR TO THE EXTERIOR OF A BUILDING OR
<br />UNDERGROUND TO ABOVEGROUND, THE RACEWAY SHALL BE FILLED WITH A LISTED PRODUCT THAT IS INTENDED
<br />FOR THE APPLICATION NEAR THE TRANSITION TO PREVENT THE CIRCULATION OF AIR, MOISTURE, AND WATER
<br />ALL FIXTURES AND DEVICES SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH SUITABLE METAL OUTLET BOXES, CONFORMING TO CEC
<br />ARTICLE 314. BOXES SHALL BE SUPPORTED RIGIDLY FROM THE STRUCTURE.
<br />12.ALL UNDERGROUND CONDUITS SHALL BE SCHEDULE 40 PVC. PVC CONDUIT SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED ABOVE
<br />GRADE.THE TRANSITION FROM PVC TO METALLIC CONDUIT SHALL BE LOCATED AT GRADE LEVEL. ALL METALLIC
<br />CONDUIT AND FITTINGS INSTALLED BELOW GRADE SHALL BE WRAPPED WITH THE LISTED, 20MIL THICK, 2" WIDE TAPE.
<br />WRAP TAPE WITH 1" OVERLAP.
<br />13.RACEWAYS SUBJECT TO PHYSICAL DAMAGE SHALL BE RIGID GALVANIZED STEEL CONDUIT.
<br />14.THE CONDUIT ROUTES SHOWN ON THE PLANS ARE APPROXIMATE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DETERMINE THE
<br />BEST CONDUIT ROUTE BASED ON THE SITE CONDITIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH THE
<br />ENGINEER IF THE CONTRACTOR'S PREFERRED CONDUIT ROUTES ARE OTHER THAN WHAT ARE INDICATED ON THE
<br />DRAWINGS.
<br />GROUNDING
<br />1.THE GROUNDING SYSTEM SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CEC AND THE LOCAL ADOPTED CODE. ALL
<br />ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND RACEWAYS SHALL BE PROPERLY GROUNDED.
<br />2.AN INSULATED EQUIPMENT GROUNDING CONDUCTOR, IN ACCORDANCE WITH CEC 250.122 AND 690.47, SHALL BE
<br />PROVIDED IN ALL CONDUITS WITH CURRENT CARRYING CONDUCTORS. ALL LUGS AND CONNECTORS SHALL BE
<br />RATED FOR THE CONDUCTOR MATERIAL AND THE CONDITIONS OF USE.
<br />3.THE GROUNDING RESISTIVITY WILL BE TESTED AFTER INSTALLATION TO CONFIRM 5 OHM OR LESS RESISTANCE
<br />FROM RACKING TO GROUND. IF GROUND RESISTANCE IS GREATER THAN 5 OHMS ADDITIONAL GROUNDING WILL BE
<br />INSTALLED UNTIL RESISTANCE IS LESS THAN 5 OHMS.
<br />EQUIPMENT
<br />1.ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS INSTALLED OUTDOORS, EXPOSED TO WEATHER OR IN DAMP LOCATIONS SHALL
<br />BE RATED FOR NEMA 3R OR GREATER. INSTALLATION OF THESE COMPONENTS MUST COMPLY WITH THE
<br />MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
<br />2.ALL RACEWAYS, CABINETS, BOXES, FIXTURES SHALL BE SUPPORTED FROM THE BUILDING STRUCTURE IN AN
<br />APPROVED MANNER.
<br />3.AT THE COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT NEATLY TYPED ACCURATE PANEL BOARD DIRECTORIES INDICATING ALL
<br />BRANCH CIRCUITS AND SPARES WILL BE PROVIDED. ALL SPARES SHALL BE LEFT IN THE OFF POSITION.
<br />4.ALL SAFETY SWITCHES SHALL BE HEAVY DUTY TYPE WITH COVER INTERLOCK AND HANDLE LOCK OFF
<br />PROVISIONS. SWITCHES SHALL BE MANUFACTURED BY A COMPANY CONSISTENT WITH OTHER INSTALLED
<br />EQUIPMENT WHENEVER POSSIBLE. PART NUMBERS, RATING AND FUSING SHALL BE AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS.
<br />5.CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE ALL CEC AND MAINTENANCE CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS ARE MET FOR NEW
<br />EQUIPMENT AND MAINTAINED FOR EXISTING EQUIPMENT.
<br />6.CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY EQUIPMENT CLEARANCE AND PLACEMENTS WHILE COORDINATING
<br />LOCATORS WITH OTHER TRADES, CONSTRUCTION MANAGERS, AND SITE SUPERVISORS PRIOR TO PURCHASING AND
<br />INSTALLING EQUIPMENT.
<br />7.EVERY STRUCTURE AND PORTION THEREOF, INCLUDING NONSTRUCTURAL COMPONENTS THAT ARE
<br />PERMANENTLY ATTACHED TO STRUCTURES AND THEIR SUPPORTS AND ATTACHMENTS, SHALL BE DESIGNED AND
<br />CONSTRUCTED
<br />TO RESIST THE EFFECTS OF EARTHQUAKE MOTIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASCE 7, EXCLUDING CHAPTER 14 AND
<br />APPENDIX 11A. THE SEISMIC DESIGN CATEGORY FOR A STRUCTURE IS PERMITTED TO BE DETERMINED IN
<br />ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 1613 OR ASCE 7.
<br />8.ALL CONTROLS AND SWITCHES INTENDED TO BE USED BY THE OCCUPANT OF THE ROOM OR AREA TO
<br />CONTROL LIGHTING AND RECEPTACLE OUTLETS, APPLIANCE AND COOLING, HEATING AN D VENTILATING EQUIPMENT,
<br />SHALL BE LOCATED NO MORE THAN 48 INCHES MEASURED FROM THE TOP OF THE JUNCTION OR DEVICE BOX NOR
<br />LESS THAN 15 INCHES MEASURED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE JUNCTION OR DEVICE BOX ABOVE THE FINISHED FLOOR.
<br />9.ALL RECEPTACLE OUTLETS ON BRANCH CIRCUITS OF 30 - AMPERES OR LESS AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
<br />RECEPTACLES SHALL BE LOCATED NO MORE THAN 48 INCHES MEASURED FROM THE TOP OF THE RECEPTACLE
<br />OUTLET BOX OR RECEPTACLE HOUSING NOR LESS THAN 15 INCHES MEASURED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE
<br />RECEPTACLE OUTLET BOX OR RECEPTACLE HOUSING ABOVE FINISHED FLOOR.
<br />WIRING DEVICES
<br />1.RECEPTACLES SHALL BE AS DESIGNED ON THE DRAWINGS AND SHOULD BE A BRAND CONSISTENT WITH
<br />OTHERS IN THE VICINITY WHENEVER POSSIBLE.
<br />2.ALL WIRING DEVICES SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH APPROPRIATE COVER-PLATES. ANY EMPTY BOXES SHALL HAVE
<br />BLANK COVER PLATES. COVER-PLATES SHALL BE LEXAN, PLASTIC OR STAINLESS STEEL IN FINISHED AREA.
<br />GALVANIZED COVER-PLATES MAY BE USED IN EQUIPMENT ROOMS.
<br />LABELING AND PHASING
<br />1.FOR LABELING USE NUMBERED UV RATED LABELS TO INDICATE STRING NUMBER.
<br />2.AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR LABELS YELLOW TAPE MAY BE USED FOR PHASING
<br />3.EACH METHOD DESCRIBED ABOVE WILL NEED TO BE PERFORMED ON BOTH POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE AT POINTS
<br />WHERE CONDUCTORS ARE TERMINATED
<br />2022 CALIFORNIA FIRE CODE SECTION 1205
<br />SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC INSTALLATION NOTES:
<br />1.1205.1 GENERAL SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC (PV) SYSTEMS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
<br />CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE OR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTIAL CODE. THE ELECTRICAL PORTION OF SOLAR PV
<br />SYSTEMS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CALIFORNIA ELECTRICAL CODE.
<br />ROOFTOP-MOUNTED SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
<br />SECTIONS 1205.2 THROUGH 1205.4.3. GROUND-MOUNTED SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS SHALL COMPLY
<br />WITH SECTION 1205.5.
<br />2.BUILDINGS WITH RAPID SHUTDOWN SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS SHALL HAVE PERMANENT LABELS IN
<br />ACCORDANCE WITH SECTIONS 1205.4.1 THROUGH 1205.4.3.
<br />3.FOR SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS THAT SHUT DOWN THE ARRAY AND THE CONDUCTORS LEAVING THE
<br />ARRAY, A LABEL SHALL BE PROVIDED. THE FIRST TWO LINES OF THE LABEL SHALL BE UPPERCASE
<br />CHARACTERS WITH A MINIMUM HEIGHT OF 3/8 INCH (10 MM) IN BLACK ON A YELLOW BACKGROUND. THE
<br />REMAINING CHARACTERS SHALL BE UPPERCASE WITH A MINIMUM HEIGHT OF 3/16 INCH (5 MM) IN BLACK ON
<br />A WHITE BACKGROUND. THE LABEL SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH FIGURE 1205.4.1(1)
<br />4.FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS THAT ONLY SHUT DOWN CONDUCTORS LEAVING THE ARRAY, A LABEL SHALL
<br />BE PROVIDED. THE FIRST TWO LINES OF THE LABEL SHALL BE UPPERCASE CHARACTERS WITH A MINIMUM
<br />HEIGHT OF 3/8 INCH (10 MM) IN WHITE ON A RED BACKGROUND AND THE REMAINING CHARACTERS SHALL BE
<br />CAPITALIZED WITH A MINIMUM HEIGHT OF 3/16 INCH (5 MM) IN BLACK ON A WHITE BACKGROUND. THE LABEL
<br />SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH FIGURE 1205.4.1(2)
<br />5.THE RAPID SHUTDOWN LABEL IN SECTION 1205.4.1 SHALL BE LOCATED NOT GREATER THAN 3 FEET (914 MM)
<br />FROM THE SERVICE DISCONNECTING MEANS TO WHICH THE PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS ARE CONNECTED,
<br />AND SHALL INDICATE THE LOCATION OF ALL IDENTIFIED RAPID SHUTDOWN SWITCHES IF NOT AT THE SAME
<br />LOCATION.
<br />FIRE DEPARTMENT NOTES
<br />1.CODES AND STANDARDS
<br />SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER SYSTEMS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH 2022 CALIFORNIA
<br />FIRE, AND 2022 CALIFORNIA ELECTRICAL CODE
<br />2.MARKING
<br />2.1.PV SYSTEMS MUST BE MARKED
<br />MARKING IS NEEDED TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY RESPONDERS WITH APPROPRIATE WARNING AND
<br />GUIDANCE WITH RESPECT TO WORKING AND AROUND AND ISOLATING THE SOLAR ELECTRIC SYSTEM.
<br />THIS CAN FACILITATE IDENTIFYING ENERGIZED ELECTRICAL LINES THAT CONNECT THE SOLAR
<br />MODULES TO THE INVERTER, AS THESE SHOULD NOT BE CUT WHEN VENTING FOR SMOKE REMOVAL.
<br />2.2.MAIN SERVICE DISCONNECT
<br />THE MARKING SHALL BE PLACED ADJACENT TO THE MAIN SERVICE DISCONNECT IN A LOCATION
<br />CLEARLY VISIBLE FROM THE LOCATION WHERE THE LEVER IS OPERATED.
<br />2.3.MARKING FOR DIRECT CURRENT CONDUIT, RACEWAYS, ENCLOSURES, CABLE ASSEMBLIES AND
<br />JUNCTION BOXES
<br />MARKING IS REQUIRED ON ALL INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR AC/DC CONDUIT, RACEWAYS, ENCLOSURES,
<br />CABLE ASSEMBLIES, AND JUNCTION BOXES TO ALERT THE FIRE SERVICE TO AVOID CUTTING THEM.
<br />MARKING SHALL BE PLACED ON ALL INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR DC CONDUIT, RACEWAYS, ENCLOSURES,
<br />AND CABLE ASSEMBLIES, EVERY 10FEET, WITHIN ONE (1) FOOT AT TURNS AND ABOVE AND BELOW
<br />PENETRATIONS AND ALL DC COMBINER AND JUNCTIONS BOXES.
<br />3.FACILITIES WITH UTILITY SERVICES AND PV SYSTEMS
<br />DIRECTORY/PLAQUE SHALL BE PROPERLY ORIENTED SO THAT THE PICTURE OF THE BUILDING IS ORIENTED
<br />IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS THE BUILDING IN RELATION TO WHERE THE DIRECTORY/PLACARD IS
<br />INSTALLED. CHARACTERS SHALL BE READABLE FROM LEFT TO RIGHT.
<br />4.LOCATIONS OF DC CONDUCTORS
<br />CONDUIT, WIRING SYSTEMS AND RACEWAYS FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC CIRCUITS SHALL BE LOCATED AS CLOSE
<br />AS POSSIBLE TO THE RIDGE OR HIP OR VALLEY AND FROM THE HIP OR VALLEYS AS DIRECTLY AS POSSIBLE
<br />TO AN OUTSIDE WALL TO REDUCE TRIP HAZARDS AND MAXIMIZE VENTILATION OPPORTUNITIES. CONDUIT
<br />RUNS BETWEEN SUB ARRAYS AND TO dc COMBINER BOXES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN A MANNER THAT
<br />MINIMIZES VENTILATION OPPORTUNITIES. CONDUIT RUNS BETWEEN SUB ARRAYS AND TO DC COMBINER
<br />BOXES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN A MANNER THAT MINIMIZES THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF CONDUIT THE ROOF BY
<br />TAKING THE SHORTEST PATH FROM THE ARRAY TO THE DC COMBINER BOX. THE DC COMBINER BOXES
<br />SHALL BE LOCATED SUCH THAT CONDUIT RUNS ARE MINIMIZED IN THE PATHWAYS BETWEEN ARRAYS. DC
<br />WIRING SHALL BE INSTALLED IN METALLIC CONDUIT OR RACEWAYS WHEN LOCATED WITHIN ENCLOSED
<br />SPACES IN A BUILDING. CONDUIT SHALL RUN ALONG THE BOTTOM OF LOAD BEARING MEMBERS.
