On the basis of the general scope indicated or <br />described, furnish all labor, materials, equipment and transportation necessary for the <br />complete and proper execution of the work. <br />1.02 DIMENSIONS <br />A.Details and sections on the drawings are shown at specific locations and are intended to show <br />general requirements throughout. Details noted “typical” imply all like conditions treated <br />similarly, unless noted otherwise. The architectural details shown are intended to further <br />illustrate the visual design concept and the minimum recommended weather protection for this <br />project. Building code requirements, structural considerations, trade association manuals and <br />publications and product manufacturer's written instructions shall also be considered in order <br />to complete the construction of the details, and in some cases may supersede the details. <br />B.Dimensions: <br />1.All dimensions shall have preference over scale. <br />2.All dimensions are to the rough unless otherwise noted. <br />3.Ceiling height dimensions are from finish floor slab to finish face of ceiling. <br />1.03 ARCHITECT <br />A.The architect has provided professional Architectural Design Services for the Project. The <br />Architect neither warrants nor guarantees any construction material, equipment, appliance, <br />fixture, hardware, finish, or mean or method of construction. The Architect shall not be <br />responsible for any Project site grading or drainage; nor any toxic and hazardous material, <br />ground erosion, corrosion, subsoil or air and water conditions of the Project. <br />1.04 STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING <br />A.All structural notes provided by structural engineer elsewhere in these construction documents <br />shall take precedence over these specifications, relative to minimum structural requirements. <br />1.05 CODES <br />A.All Construction, Materials and work quality shall be in full accordance with the latest Federal, <br />State, County, City or Local governing agencies Codes, Rules, Regulations and Requirements. <br />In cases of conflict the more stringent requirements shall govern. <br />B.Comply with the handicapped accessibility requirements of the CBC and Americans with <br />Disabilities Act (ADA). <br />1.06 GENERAL CONTRACTOR <br />A.The General Contractor shall ensure that all labor, materials, equipment and transportation <br />shall be included in the work for complete execution of the project. <br />1.All trades shall furnish all labor, equipment, and materials and perform all work <br />necessary, indicated, reasonably inferred or required by any code with jurisdiction to <br />complete their scope of work for a complete and properly finished job. <br />2.The General Contractor shall be responsible for coordinating the work between the <br />different Subcontractors and requiring all Subcontractors to use the most current <br />building department approved set of plans. <br />3.Contractor shall be solely responsible for construction means, methods, techniques, <br />sequences, procedures, and safety precautions. <br />B.The contractor shall be responsible for the accuracy of the building lines, levels, and heights. <br />The contractor shall compare carefully the lines, levels and heights shown on the drawings <br />with existing lines, levels and heights for the location and construction of the work and shall <br />call the architects attention to any discrepancies before proceeding with the work. <br />C.The contractors and sub-contractors performing work on this this project shall be responsible <br />for initiating, maintaining and supervising a reasonable and prudent safety program including, <br />but not limited to, the isolation of work areas and the prompt removal of any debris or tools <br />which might endanger visitors and personnel. All roads and walkways shall remain clear and <br />unrestricted. When necessary alternate routes or traffic control must be maintained, should <br />unsafe conditions occur. <br />D.The design, adequacy, safety and erection of bracing, shoring, temporary supports and <br />scaffolding are the sole responsibility of the contractor. <br />1.07 SUBSTITUTIONS <br />A.Substitutions of specific materials or products listed on the drawings shall not be made without <br />written authorization by Owner/ Client. The General Contractor and any Subcontractor shall <br />not make structural substitutions or changes without prior written authorization from the <br />Structural Engineer. <br />B.Contractor shall submit to the Owner/Builder for approval information on materials, products or <br />equipment which the contractor considers equivalent to items specified as "or approved equal”. <br />1.08 CHANGES <br />A.Verify all dimensions and site conditions before starting work. Should a discrepancy appear in <br />the specifications or drawings, or in the work done by others from the contract documents that <br />may affect any work, notify the architect at once for instruction on how to proceed. If the <br />contractor proceeds with the work affected without instructions from the architect the <br />contractor shall make good any resulting damage or defect. <br />1.09 SHOP DRAWINGS <br />A.Shop drawings, as requested, shall be submitted to the Architect and Owner/Builder when <br />required. Drawings shall be to scale and completely dimensioned and noted to reflect <br />requirements of the plans and specifications as well as all codes and regulations governing the <br />site of the work. Architect will not review shop drawings or other contractor submittals for any <br />purpose other than for conformity with aesthetic design concepts,and in no event will Architect <br />review shop drawings for accuracy or completeness, for serviceability or performance, for <br />constructibility, for code compliance, for coordination among trades or compatibility with other <br />Project components, or for contractor safety precautions,all of which are the sole responsibility <br />of the submitting contractor. <br />1.10 MATERIALS <br />A.All materials including, but not limited to appliances, plumbing and electrical fixtures, skylights, <br />doors, windows, etc., shall be installed per manufacturer’s recommendations/specifications. To <br />insure warranty is not breached, contractor shall verify site conditions with material’s supplier <br />prior to shipment, receipt and installation. <br />B.All cutting, fitting or patching that may be required to make several parts fit together properly <br />shall be done so as not to endanger any other work by cutting, excavating or otherwise altering <br />the total work or any part of it. All patching, repairing and replacing of materials and surfaces, <br />cut or damaged in execution of work shall be done with applicable material so that surfaces <br />replaced will, upon completion, match surrounding similar surfaces. <br />C.All material stored on the site shall be stacked and protected to prevent damage and <br />deterioration until use. Failure to protect materials may be cause for rejection of work. <br />1.11 CLEAN UP <br />A.Confine all operations on the site to areas permitted by the owner. The work shall be done in <br />accordance with all applicable laws, local ordinances, permits and the contract documents. <br />The job site is to be maintained in a clean, orderly condition free of debris and litter and shall <br />not be unreasonably encumbered with any material or equipment.
