During the master planning stage of the project, CSG conducted <br />traffic studies;attohdW study sessions with various TowNs departmental directors, presented our <br />sonceptual design to the community at two public meetings and effectively coordinated with project <br />stakeholders, 0ty staft and City Council to review and approve an aesthetically pleasing design concept which <br />was in compliance with the Tolvn`s General Plan and Master Sign Program. CSG worked closely with the <br />Plank A9 06pa0ment to deiNgr a colveptool design that ipcolporated all elements of "complete streets," <br />Including sidewalks, tighting, and bike lanes. Design elements Incorporated sheltered leftturns to act as <br />traffic calmingmeasures, additional street porft continuous bike lakes,, a continuous sidewalk where none <br />exist before, curb ramp, rectangular rapid floshihs beacons, and laWretention areas, or "rain. gardens". Two <br />traffic signal modifications were completed to match the'now layout end bring those signals up to current <br />standards, The design Incorporated a retrofit to all Intersections and pedestrian access points throughout the <br />corrldorIn order to meet ADA requirements, In addition, the entire length of roadweywas rehabilitated by <br />full -depth reconstruction. <br />SAFE ROUTES TO SCHgOLS I CiTY OF SAN MATEO, CA <br />CSG Consultants was selected by the City of San Mateo to provide both topographle survey and design <br />services for this federally -funded project, CSG acted as the prime.consultant for the topographic survey <br />effort, which Included topographic survey for 1S school sites and a total of 32 local intersections, The design <br />scope Included curb extensions, curb ramps, and rectangular rapid flashing beacons at seven Intersections <br />throughout the City, CSG provided detailed curb ramp designs In accordance with the latest Caltrans Plan <br />Preparation Manual, including station data, proposed slopes, and elevation data. CSG reviewed curb <br />extensions Impacts on drainage patterns, and prepared hydrology and hydraulics calculations to support <br />trench drain designs and the modification of an existing drainage Inlet, <br />In addition to preparing the PS&Es for work adjacent to three school sites, CSG helped to coordinate the work <br />of four design consultants to assemble a singlo bid schedule and set of technical specificationsin anticipation <br />of the Caltrans C-76 Request to Proceed with Construction. C5G provided conformance reviews of all <br />consultants' plans and estimates to ensure that federal requirements were met, and facilitated coordination <br />between the City and consultants to ensure any potential project issues were addressed in advance of the E. <br />76 Request. CSG also performed a peer review of the City'sfront•end specifications to ensure that the <br />technical specifications and front-end specifications were coordinated, and that federal language was <br />Incorporated, <br />25E-325 <br />
