Confidences" <br />W 7 <br />;. <br />Meiling Cal, E.I.T. <br />Staff Engineer <br />For Meiling Cal, the traffic and pavement -related courses she took during her <br />sophomore year in college ended up being illuminating experiences that changed <br />the direction of her education and career. After taking the classes, any time she <br />would drive or go for a walk, Meiling "couldn't stop thinking about how to make <br />the roads or signals better" as she observed pavement conditions, detection loops, <br />and traffic flow. Afterjoining the Institute of Transportation Engineers' Student <br />Chapter and working on some projects, she decided to specialize in transportation, <br />applying her interests and passions to her future career. <br />Meiling joined NCE upon graduation and has since performed pavement condition <br />inspections throughout California and Idaho, as well as sidewalk and curb ramp <br />assessments. Her experience includes distress collection across various pavement <br />management systems. <br />She enjoys the process of continually learning and working to find better solutions. <br />Meilings' clients value her attention to detail, spirit of collaboration, and the fact <br />she truly cares about her work and its impact. <br />Representative Projects <br />Pavement and Asset Management <br />Sidewalk & Curb Ramp Assessment <br />City of Corona, California <br />Field Technician. NCE performed condition assessments of approximately 350 <br />centerline miles of sidewalks and 9,000 curb ramps. In addition, NCE provided <br />prioritization criteria as well as repair recommendations. <br />Pavement Management System and Update <br />City of Whittier, California <br />Field Technician. NCE provided the PMP implementation of 195 centerline miles. <br />NCE performed the following tasks: Conversion of old pavement inventory into the <br />StreetSaver® database; review of inventory data; performed condition inspections; <br />PCI calculation; import of M&R history records; review of M&R strategies and <br />costs; determine the funding needs of the road network; completion of multiple <br />funding scenarios, linkage of the database to GIS, City staff training, and provided <br />technical support. <br />Pavement Management Plan Updates <br />City of La Habra, California <br />Field Technician. NCE is providing a comprehensive pavement condition inspection <br />of the City's streets and alleys in order to prepare the 2015 update report to the <br />Orange County Transportation Authority. Updates include the Pavement Condition <br />Index, treatment, unit costs, and cost of all segments of the City's streets. <br />Pavement Management Plan Updates <br />City of Manhattan Beach, California <br />Field Technician.
