total of 80 hours of work foremployees working <br />the "9/80" work schedule. <br />a, A permitted absence of two working (2) days or less <br />during such ten (10) day period shall not be deemed to <br />void such consecutive service; however, the days of <br />absence shall not be counted in the computation of <br />eligibility to qualify for the temporary upgrade assignment <br />pay. <br />b. In computing qualifying service rendered, only full days of <br />actual duty shall be included, and partial days shall not <br />be combined to make full days unless they are normally <br />granted holiday hours. Normally granted holidays will be <br />included in computing actual duty days. <br />C. Employees must re -qualify for a Temporary Upgrade <br />Assignment if the employee has not worked in this <br />specific upgrade assignment fora period of eighteen (18) <br />consecutive months or longer. The employee shall only <br />be considered to work in a higher classification If such <br />work Is duly and specifically authorized by the <br />employee's Department Head. <br />3. Whenever practicable, the appointing authority shall rotate <br />Temporary Upgrade Assignments among all qualified <br />employees. <br />C. Payment. <br />On the next consecutive working day following the qualification <br />period for temporary upgrade that an employee has been <br />serving in a Temporary Upgrade Assignment, and for each <br />additional consecutive working day the employee so serves, he <br />or she shall receive the beginning rate (Step "AA") assigned to <br />the higher classification or the lowest rate in that range which is <br />at least 5% higher than the current base salary rate he or she <br />normally receives (inclusive of lead pay and exclusive of any <br />other assignment or special pay additive or additives), <br />whichever is greater, except when placement at "E" step shall <br />not be sufficient to provide the 57. increase. <br />CONFIDENTIAL ASSOCIATION OF SANTA ANA(CASA) MO11: 2017-2018 Page 23 <br />25H-27 <br />
