5O Summer Night Lights Program <br />Chris Dalton indicated the program was request from Mayor Pro -Tem Martinez. In order for <br />the program to work the non-profit organizations need the superintendent's permission to <br />allow them to offer the program. CDA set aside $100,000 of CDBG funds for non -profits to rent <br />m <br />facilities from the district. The application for funding will end on February 5 . In corporation <br />with PRCSA and the SAUSD the non -profits would operate a center from July 1 -September 30 <br />k*s.Amezcua indicated because this is late evening program ochmoUdf« police needs to be <br />present atthe site. Mr. K8Vuet indicated Jerome and Madison Park are in the California <br />Endowment area and might provide additional funding for this pilot. El Salvador Center can also <br />beused asapilot program. Ms. Annezcuaraised concern that 3 areas may hedifficult Lo <br />manage. Mr. Tin 'ero agreed, and indicated Madison should beone ofthe sites. <br />There was gconcern that one week left nnthe application deadline istoo short. Mr. Godinez <br />indicated CDBG funding has its own cycle and the deadline is the beginning to assess the <br />proposed CD0G. <br />6.0 Update on SAUSID Youth Restorative Justice Initiative <br />Dr. Sonia Llamas, Assistant Superintendent, indicated it is important that students and staff <br />build a meaningful relationship. Last year SAUSDwas able to obtain a $3 million grant for this <br />program, The program wants the students to network with focus on mutual -respect. 700 <br />students were trained and 9,O0Qstudents had individual meetings. Requested City Council look <br />aLthe on-line video. <br />Mr. Benavidez indicated he heard of the intervention to support the students and appreciated <br />the information so city can help with partnership in the program and requested the city <br />manager tnlook e1variety wfways tohelp. <br />7,0 Introduction of the New Chief of School Police <br />Chief Anastasia Smith was introduced and she outlined her years of service in law enforcement, <br />Indicated she was pleased to be selected and has already contacted the Chiefs ofother Law <br />Enforcement Agencies to get familiar with the issues in Santa Ana and Orange County. <br />Chief Anastasia Smith indicated she is working hard behind the scenes with Chief Valentine on <br />setting upexercise onthe second week inJune. Her experience inorganizing the security and <br />safety ufl3,8OO law enforcement personnel at a conference will be great help. <br />
