The <br />ogram prepares teens to meet the challenges of adolescence through a coordinated, progressive series of activities and <br />periences that help them become socially, morally, emotionally, physically, and cognitively competent. Teens will develop <br />ecific skills needed for effective leadership that they will apply in meaningful prevention services to children in the <br />The target population includes a total of 100 participants, including 20 teens, ages 16-19 and 80 children ages 7 to 15, <br />i the program will serve all Santa Ana residents, a special emphasis will be placed on those who live in the Delhi and <br />ling neighborhoods <br />icipants will complete the following benchmarks: <br />Assessment/Orientation/Goal Planning (TEENS) <br />3 risk assessment sessions to define risk factors in the areas of school, community, peers, family, and individuals. <br />1 orientation session to understand the program requirements, what will be expected of them, and what they can expect in <br />return. <br />3 goal planning sessions, including an initial planning session, plus a 6 and 9 month session to evaluate progress and modify <br />the plan as needed. <br />Broom Training (TEENS) <br />3 sessions of Risk and Protective Factor Training to help them understand prevention concepts and to develop crime and <br />gang prevention activities for children. <br />10 classroom training sessions within at least two of the following components <br />o Career Exploration <br />o Leadership Development and Life Skills Training <br />o Positive Peer Group Activities <br />o Gang Awareness and Prevention <br />,nships (TEENS) <br />12 Internship sessions, supervised by their assigned mentor who will supervise them in the successful accomplishment of <br />on-the-job training projects.
