Orozco, Norma
From:
D Denniston <
Sent:
Tuesday, July 17, 2018 2:01 PM
To:
eComment
Cc: Pulido, Miguel; Martinez, Michele; Sarmiento, Vicente; Solorio, Jose; Benavides, David;
Villegas, Juan; Tinajero, Sal
Subject: City Council meeting 07-17-2018
Attachments: Our Letter to council about charter school.docx
Hello, Please find here my comments for tonight's city council meeting. Please feel free to contact me if you should
have any further questions. Thank you.
July 10, 2018
The Honorable City Council
20 Civic Center Plaza, M-30
P.O. Box 1988
Santa Ana, CA 92702
RE: AA 2018-05 1440-1450 E. 17th Street (charter school proposal)
Dear City Council:
We are residents of Santa Ana and reside at Linwood Avenue. The purpose of this letter is to voice
our protest of the project at 1440-1450 E. 17th Street due to traffic and parking issues.
A few years ago, 14th and 15th Streets were closed to incoming traffic from Grand Avenue into the
neighborhood. Due to this, we have experienced an increased volume of vehicular traffic entering our
neighborhood on Linwood Avenue via 17th Street. As we understand this project, AA 2018-05, traffic and
parking would be greatly increased on Linwood due to students entering and exiting from this school, as well
as though who wish to drive to school and will be parking in our neighborhood.
This increased traffic and parking would have an adverse impact on our street and many residents have
expressed their disapproval and great concern over this situation.
Since we already have increased traffic, speeding, and parking issues due to the closure of 14th and 15th
Streets, we are therefore very concerned what effect this extra traffic from the school would have on our
street. We are requesting that the Council take a very close look at the adverse effect this project will have on
our street and neighborhood. If this project is approved we are requesting parking permits be issued to
residents on the 1500 and 1600 blocks of North Linwood.
Sincerely,
Douglas and Shaleen Denniston

lin
