PUBLIC HEARING — AMENDMENT APPLICATION NO. 2018-05 TO REZONE <br />THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1440-1450 EAST SEVENTEENTH STREET <br />FOR RELOCATION OF EDNOVATE CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL — PACIFIC <br />WEST COMMUNITIES, INC., APPLICANT {STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 3, 2) — <br />Planning and Building Agency <br />Planning Commission approved recommended action on June 25, 2018 by a <br />vote of 5-1 (Mendoza dissented). <br />Legal Notice published in the Orange County Reporter on July 6, 2018 and <br />notices mailed on July 5, 2018. <br />Mayor Pulido opened the Hearing. The following spoke on the matter: <br />• Asim Sultan, opined members of the community support business <br />occupation of vacant buildings but will not compromise the safety of their <br />families. Express opposition to item and requested City Council to consider <br />safety concerns. <br />• Alvaro Ramirez, expressed opposition project and read correspondence <br />addressed to Councilmember Benavides. <br />• Cecilia Iglesias, expressed support for recommendation from Planning <br />Commission. <br />• Mike Tardiff, addressed City Council to express support for project. <br />• Darren Berberian, President of Golden West Communities, opined project <br />took into consideration traffic impact, report was provided to planning <br />commission, and project layout is the most efficient to reduce traffic impact. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 20 JULY 17, 2018 <br />1 OA -20 <br />
