Santa Ana Hi
l7 rhetlzrl Joseph I{aye, Orchestra Director
Thursday, April 26, 2018
Joseph Kaye
520 W. Walnut St.
Santa Ana, Ca 92701
To Whom It May Concern,
School Orchestra
Jeff Bishop, Principal
On behalf of Santa Ana High School and the SanArts Conservatory, we are wholeheartedly willing to
lend our support in UC Irvine (UCI)'s grant proposal for the City of Santa Ana — Investing in the Artist
Grant Opportunity — Arts Organizations.
Here at Santa Ana High School, it is our belief that music and music activities are important parts of the
educational program of our schools. We believe that desirable co -curricular music activities should be
provided to supplement and enrich the regular classroom activities. Through the current partnership with
UCI's Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA), our students have had the unique opportunity to
participate in open rehearsals, campus tours, collaborative rehearsals, master classes, and concerts.
Overall goals of the partnership are to:
1. To cultivate engaged young artists who will become engaged citizens in their communities
2. To build awareness of the university experience making it a tangible goal for all teens
3. To increase access to the arts resources available at CTSA
Once a year, our partnership with the UCI truly comes to realization as select students from our music
program will perform side-by-side with the UCI Symphony Orchestra members in a combination concert.
This is a great way for the community to see the engaging work come to life and how it has influenced
students and families. But the hard work really does go beyond just the manifestation of a side-by-side
concert — these students and families will gain invaluable learning experiences that will last a lifetime.
Unequivocally we are in complete support of UCI's grant proposal and if accepted we look forward
expanding this long lasting partnership with more enriching opportunities for our students and families.
Thank you for your consideration,
Joseph Kaye
Director of Orchestras
Santa Ana Fligh School
joseph.kaye@sausd.us
Office: 714-567-4996
Fax: 714-567-4998
Celli 760-554-5231
