<br />City of Santa Clarita (City), In
<br />conjunction with the Landscape
<br />Maintenance District (LMD),
<br />maintains 25 pedestrian bridges
<br />and 5 under crossings that link
<br />the paseo system in the Valencia
<br />North and South neighborhoods in
<br />the City of Santa Clarita. The City
<br />proposes to replace the last timber
<br />bridge located on. Arroyo Park
<br />Drive, 0.6 miles west of McKean
<br />Parkway, with a pre -fabricated
<br />steel truss structure, Tetra Tech
<br />was hired to finalize the design and
<br />complete detailed construction
<br />Plans, Specifications, and
<br />Estimate (PS&E) of the proposed
<br />bridge replacement and additional
<br />support services as needed by the
<br />City. The biggest challenge that
<br />faces the Arroyo Park Pedestrian
<br />Bridge Replacement project is
<br />Arroyo Park Drive Itself. Arroyo
<br />Park Drive is a residential roadway
<br />and has traffic throughout the day.
<br />Coordination during the demolition
<br />of the existing bridge and during
<br />final assembly and erection of the
<br />now pre-fabrioated bridge will be
<br />key to the project success. These
<br />major construction activities will
<br />most likely require full closure of
<br />Arroyo Park Drive. Tetra Tech is

<br />of traffic control plans within the

<br />is a well visited stop along the
<br />Kalalau Trail, located two miles
<br />from Hs'ena State Park Mr, Olson
<br />was responsible for overseeing
<br />the structural engineering design,
<br />coordination of geotechnical
<br />studies and overall bridge
<br />design. Plans, Specifications and
<br />Estimates are currently being
<br />completed with DLNR. Hanakapi'ei
<br />Beach is remote and difficult to
<br />reach, and can only be accessed
<br />from the foot trail, by boat, or by
<br />helicopter.. The goal of the project
<br />is to provide a safe crossing over
<br />the stream during the periodic
<br />flood events that frequently occur
<br />and to reduce the need for State
<br />resources, which includes airlifting
<br />visitors across the stream via
<br />helicopter.
