B. Eligibility. <br />1. With the exception of those described in paragraph 3 below, regular, Part <br />Time Civil Service employees shall receive Temporary Upgrade <br />Assignment Pay only upon approval by the City Manager and if the <br />following criteria are met: <br />a. The work assumed encompasses the majority of the typical duties and <br />responsibilities of the vacated position. <br />b, Employees must serve ten (10) consecutively scheduled working days <br />of six (6) hours in an acting capacity to qualify for assignment pay. <br />c. Normally granted holidays will be included in computing actual duty <br />days. <br />2. Whenever practicable, the appointing authority shall rotate Temporary <br />Upgrade Assignments among all qualified employees. <br />3. Employees in the following categories shall not be assigned to Temporary <br />Upgrade work unless specifically authorized by the City Manager: <br />a. Non -permanent employees (Probationary, Part-time, Seasonal, etc.). <br />b, Employees performing work above their regular class in a training <br />capacity. <br />d. Part Time Civil Service employees. <br />C. Payment. <br />1. On the eleventh (11th) consecutively scheduled working day an employee <br />has been serving in a Temporary Upgrade Assignment, and for each <br />additional consecutively scheduled working day the employee so serves, <br />he or she shall receive the beginning rate (Step "AA") assigned to the higher <br />classification or the lowest rate in that range which is at least ten (10) salary <br />rate ranges (5%) higher than the current base salary rate he or she normally <br />receives, whichever is greater. <br />If an employee has worked ten (10) consecutive days during the term of this <br />Agreement in a higher classification, the employee shall thereafter receive <br />upgrade pay for each day the employee is assigned to work. in the higher <br />classification during the term of this Agreement.
