Huizar
My name is Cheryl Eberly, and I am the Youth Services Supervisor for the City of Santa
Ana, based out of the Santa Ana Public Library. I am writing this letter to provide
compelling community support for the collaboration between Media Arts Santa Ana
(MASA), a Project of Community Partners, and the Philip K. Dick Film Festival, for
which they are request funding from the Santa Ana Investing in the Artist grant.
This important project highlights the contributions and multicultural vision of Philip K.
Dick, an internationally acclaimed science fiction writer who lived his final years in Santa
Ana.
In celebrating this important figure in Santa Ana's history, this project will also stimulate
a creative discussion about the city's future, and the impact writers, filmmakers and
other creative artists can have on their community and the world.
This innovative, multifaceted project will inspire Santa Ana students and families to
learn more about the author and to celebrate the city's contribution to his
groundbreaking vision through screenings and discussions, as well as by promoting the
author's titles that can be enjoyed at the Santa Ana Public Library.
We also believe the extensive promotion and outreach for this project will encourage
Santa Ana residents and students from throughout the city to obtain library cards and
learn about our services, such as E -Library Access, our Digital Collection, History
Room, and free programs for youth and adults.
We look forward to the opportunity to participate in this project and to hold screenings,
discussions and readings celebrating Philip K. Dick and his multicultural vision at the
Santa Ana Public Library.
I hope you will consider this unique, timely and transformative project as worthy of
support from the Investing in the Artist grant.
Si rely_
Cheryl Eberly
Santa Ana Public Library
City of Santa Ana
714-647.5288 (ceberlyC7a Santa-ana.org)
