REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />DECEMBER 18, 2018 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROVE AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT <br />WITH VOLTAIC FOR INSTALLATION, <br />NETWORKING AND MAINTENANCE OF <br />SIX ADDITIONAL ELECTRIC VEHICLE <br />CHARGING STATIONS <br />(SPECIFICATION NO. 17-109) <br />{STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6,2) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1s' Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2n° Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement <br />with Voltaic, for the purchase, installation, networking, and maintenance warranty of six additional <br />electric vehicle charging stations at various City locations in a total amount not to exceed $142,306, <br />subject to non -substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On February 6, 2018, City Council approved an agreement with Voltaic to purchase and install <br />ten dual -pedestal Chargepoint electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout the City. These <br />EV stations are used for both public and private use and are being located in the following areas. <br />• Corporate Yard <br />• Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center <br />• Santa Ana Zoo <br />• Third & Bush surface parking lot <br />• Civic Center Superblock parking structure <br />• Ross Annex underground parking <br />The Stations will utilize ChargePoint, Inc. as direct provider of networking services. The City has <br />previously entered into a Master Services and Subscription agreement (MSSA) with ChargePoint, <br />Inc. to utilize their cloud -based networking system. ChargePoint, Inc. is the industry leader in <br />providing networked Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout the United States. They <br />currently have over 7,000 customers providing service to large and small entities in both the <br />private and public sectors. Additionally, ChargePoint has established partnerships with the <br />majority of the major car manufacturers to provide an easy transition for the car buyer to <br />purchase electricity for their EV. Currently, ChargePoint, Inc. maintains a 70% market share of <br />all EV charging stations, and have existing contracts locally with the cities of Anaheim, <br />25E-1 <br />
