REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JANUARY 15, 2019 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROVE AN AGREEMENT WITH <br />CONCENTRA MEDICAL CENTER DOING <br />BUSINESS AS OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH <br />CENTERS OF CALIFORNIA (CONCENTRA), <br />A MEDICAL CORPORATION TO PROVIDE <br />OCCUPATIONAL MEDICAL SERVICES <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 7,5) <br />7 <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />IT»iiP <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2n^ Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Concentra <br />Medical Center doing business as Occupational Health Centers of California (Concentra), a <br />Medical Corporation, to provide a comprehensive medical services review program for a three- <br />year period from February 1, 2019 until January 31, 2022, and with two (2) one-year optional <br />renewals of $100,000 each additional year not to exceed $500,000 over a five (5) year period. <br />Subject to non -substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />It has been several years since the City has reviewed its current processes regarding employee <br />medical examinations. To ensure these services are addressed effectively and timely, a Request <br />for Proposals (RFP) for occupational health services was posted on August 27, 2018 (Exhibit 1). <br />The purpose of the RFP was to identify qualified occupational health providers to perform the <br />following scope of work: <br />■ Effectively coordinate, schedule and evaluate the results of a variety of medical examinations <br />for City employees, including: <br />■ Pre-employment medical examinations and screenings; <br />■ Post -exposure medical examinations and screenings; <br />■ Fitness for duty examinations; <br />• Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commercial Classification Drivers License <br />physical examinations; <br />• Department of Transportation (DOT) -related drug and alcohol examinations and <br />screenings; and <br />■ California OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) occupational testing such as <br />periodic evaluation of respiratory, audio and chest functions, as well as Hepatitis <br />vaccinations and boosters, as needed. <br />25E-1 <br />
