Agreement with SAPOA 2018-2021 <br />February 5, 2019 <br />Page 2 <br />5. Retiree Health Insurance: Effective retroactively to October 1, 2018, the City's contribution <br />toward retiree health insurance shall increase from .75% to 2% of the base salary plus <br />incentives (excluding overtime) for all employees covered by this MOU. The contribution is <br />paid directly to the Santa Ana Police Officers Association which maintains a fund for the <br />purpose of providing retiree health insurance premium reduction assistance. Estimated <br />annual payments to the SAPOA over the term of this agreement will be an increase of <br />approximately $2,059,415. <br />6. Training Officer Assignment Pay: Effective retroactively to July 1, 2018, employees covered <br />by this MOU who are assigned to the Training Division as the training coordinator shall receive <br />2.5% above the base monthly salary step. <br />7. Medical Insurance: Effective July 1, 2019, the City's contribution toward medical insurance <br />shall increase from $1,510 per month to $1,575 per month for all employees covered by this <br />MOU. The contribution for members is paid directly to the Santa Ana Police Officers <br />Association for the purpose of providing health, dental and long-term disability benefits for <br />employees covered by this MOU and their eligible dependents. <br />8. Vacation Carry -Over: Effective January 1, 2019, any vacation not used by December 31St of <br />each calendar year that is above the maximum carry-over amount shall be cashed out at a <br />straight -time rate. <br />9. Correctional Officer Special Assignments: Effective January 1, 2019, special assignments for <br />Correctional Officers other than Classification Officer shall be based on seniority, initiated by <br />employees during the shift change sign-up period. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item allows the City to meet Goal #7 — Team Santa Ana, Objective #4, Establish <br />employee compensation that attracts and retains a highly qualified workforce and Objective #6, <br />Provide a positive workplace environment that supports the health of its employees and celebrates <br />its success. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The estimated cost of this agreement has been summarized below. The estimated cost is based <br />upon the 465 SAPOA positions filled as of March 30, 2018 and does not include the impact to <br />vacant SAPOA positions. <br />65D-2 <br />
