Award Contract to Arnaz Engineering Contractors, Inc., for the <br />First Street Undercrossing Stormwater Lift Station Project <br />February 19, 2019 <br />Page 2 <br />The scope of work includes excavation and construction of a retaining wall to allow for direct <br />vehicular access to the facility, and replacement of the lift station building, pumps, equipment and <br />piping connections to the storm drain system. Once completed, the improvements will increase <br />safety while performing facility maintenance and improve system efficiency and reliability by <br />upgrading outdated pumps and equipment. <br />A Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on October 2 and October 9, 2018, and bids were opened <br />on November 1, 2018. Arnaz Engineering <br />Contractors, Inc., submitted the lowest responsive bid in the amount of $630,300 (Exhibit 2). <br />Based on the bid analysis and a contractor's reference check, staff recommends awarding the <br />construction contract to Arnaz Engineering Contractors, Inc., in the amount bid (Exhibit 3). <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #6 — Community Facilities & <br />Infrastructure, Objective #1 (establish and maintain a Community Investment Plan for all City <br />assets), Strategy C (invest resources and technology to extend the service life of existing <br />infrastructure to protect the City's investment and support a high quality of life standard) and <br />Strategy G (develop and implement the City's Capital Improvement Program in coordination with <br />the Community Investment Plan). <br />23A-2 <br />
