Lopez, Kenia <br />From: <br />Sent: <br />To: <br />Cc: <br />Subject: <br />Dear Mayor Miguel Pulido <br />Santa Ana Council members <br />Leonel Velasquez Rodriguez < <br />Tuesday, March 05, 2019 12:24 PM <br />eComment <br />Karen Romero Estrada; Miguel Hernandez <br />Opposition on Item C19 <br />At OCCCO we believe that advocating for the rights of the poorest and most vulnerable should be a <br />fundamental priority of any healthy community, in other words, our community in Santa Ana is bleeding with <br />this housing crisis, unjust evictions, homeless, families in oppression forced to migrate to places of the <br />underworld due to the lack of leadership and commitment of some local authorities. <br />The Santa Ana community needs more land for green spaces, schools, theaters, family resources, land to <br />learn how to grow food, religious services, public parking, affordable housing etc. <br />OCCCO Orange County Congregation Community Organization is in a very strong opposition on the Item <br />C19 Santa Ana City Council Tuesday, March 5, 2019, to this I want to refer to the following California Act: <br />SURPLUS LAND ACT <br />October 2015 <br />The State Legislature has declared that development of low- and moderate -income housing is a vital statewide <br />need and that surplus government land should be made available for this purpose.§ 54220 (a). <br />Whenever a local agency sells or leases its surplus property, the Surplus Land Act requires that the agency <br />prioritizes affordable housing and other vital state purposes. § § 54220 (a), 54222. <br />Surplus land means land owned by any local agency that is no longer necessary for the agency's use. § 54221 <br />(b) (see § 54221 (e)-(f) for characteristics of exempt surplus property). <br />A local agency is any city, county, city, and county, or district empowered to acquire and hold property. § <br />54221 (a). <br />That's Why OCCCO is in a Strong Opposition on Item C19 <br />Thank you very much <br />God bless you <br />Leonel Velazquez Rodriguez <br />Immigration and Education Community <br />Coordinator <br />aocccrN <br />together in faith, forward for justice <br />
