within the amount of time he/she would be able to return if traveling from home. <br />An employee on standby/on-call shall remain fit for duty. Employees on standby <br />are also subject to the requirements of the Investigations Bureau Order # 09, <br />which sets forth the guidelines for standby status. <br />F. An employee who is continuously and regularly assigned as a Training Officer <br />working in Field Operations, the Detention facility, as a Forensic Specialist II, or <br />as the Training Coordinator will be paid at a rate set five (5) salary rate ranges <br />(approximately 2.5%) above his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br />G. An employee who is continuously and regularly assigned to and actually <br />performing duties of an Internal Affairs Officer will be paid at a rate set five (5) <br />salary rate ranges (approximately 2.5%) above his or her then current base <br />monthly salary step. <br />H. An employee who is continuously and regularly assigned to perform training <br />functions as a Parking Control Officer will be paid at a rate set five (5) salary rate <br />ranges (approximately 2.5%) above his or her then current base monthly salary <br />step. <br />I. Effective July 1, 2018, a Police Officer who is continuously and regularly <br />assigned as a Canine Officer will be paid at a rate set ten (10) salary rate ranges <br />(approximately 5%) above his or her then current base monthly salary step. This <br />pay shall be considered compensation for the care and feeding of the dog off-duty <br />and is for the thirty (30) minutes of time each day for such purpose. <br />The City and the Association understand and agree that this additional <br />compensation is intended to compensate canine officers for all off duty hours <br />spent caring, grooming, feeding and otherwise maintaining their canine unit, in <br />compliance with the FLSA. <br />The parties acknowledge that the FLSA, which governs the entitlement to <br />compensation for canine duties, entitles the parties to agree to a reasonable <br />number work hours for the performance of off duty canine duties. The work <br />hours (30 minutes per day) derived at in this agreement were determined after an <br />actual inquiry of the officers assigned in the canine assignment as addressed by <br />Leever v. City of Carson City, 360 F.3d 1014 (9th Cir. 2004). It is the intent of the <br />parties through the provisions of this section to fully comply with the <br />requirements of the FLSA. In addition, both parties believe that this section of the <br />MOU does comply with the requirements of the FLSA. <br />J. A Police Officer who is continuously and regularly assigned to and actually <br />performing duties of a Motor Officer assigned to the Traffic Division will be paid <br />at a rate set five (5) salary rate ranges (approximately 2.5%) above his or her then <br />current base monthly salary step. <br />The City and the Association understand and agree that this additional <br />compensation is intended to compensate Motor Officers for all off duty hours <br />14 <br />
