- <br />Internet Access <br />Transition to <br />Smart City <br />development of a fiber optics <br />program that increases consumer <br />options for internet access and <br />ensures that the city's local <br />authority is preserved in the <br />expansion of wireless programs. <br />Explore State and Federal grant <br />programs that can help the city <br />transition into a Smart City. <br />charged to install small cell sites. This <br />would require legislative help as the fees <br />currently charged are very low. This <br />means the city is permitting and <br />subsidizing these private companies. <br />(IT) There are several telecom companies <br />that provide internet access to Santa Ana <br />businesses and residents. It is anticipated <br />that new 5G networks will increase the <br />number of providers who can provide <br />high-speed internet within the city. The <br />city is working with several telecom <br />providers to develop license agreements <br />for the permitting and licensing of assets <br />to be used for small cell antennas which <br />could be used in the future for 5G <br />networks that can make internet access <br />more affordable due to competition. <br />(TPA) Worked with the city and Assembly <br />Member Daly to secure $4 million in <br />funding for Santa Ana to begin <br />transitioning to smart water meters.
