Public Hearing for Housing Authority Annual Plan <br />April 3, 2018 <br />Page 2 <br />Board and the Resident Advisory Board provided input for the development of the Annual Plan <br />and adoption of the Resolution (Exhibit 2). <br />Staff analyzed all of the recommendations from the Resident Advisory Board by: 1) considering <br />the feasibility of each recommendation; 2) discussing as a team the opportunity for SAHA to <br />implement each recommendation; and 3) making a determination on which recommendation(s) <br />could be implemented or considered for future implementation. One of the primary <br />recommendations received was that rents are too high in the City of Santa Ana and there should <br />be rent control. A second primary recommendation was that more affordable housing units are <br />needed. All of the recommendations have been taken into consideration by the housing authority <br />staff. <br />On February 12, 2018, a legal notice was published in the Orange County Register, Nguoi Viet <br />and La Opinion newspapers advising the public that a draft of the Annual Plan was available for <br />public review and comment and a public hearing would be held on April 3, 2018. HUD federal <br />regulations require a 45 -day public comment period and the public comment period ends on <br />March 28, 2018.
