MainPlace Mall Transformation Project 12126.001
between 15 and 20 feet bgs. The infiltration test zone in LB-6 was determined at
depths between 11.5 and 16.5 feet bgs.
Infiltration test well were installed inside the boreholes after completion of the
drilling. Infiltration test well consisted of a 5-foot section of 2-inch-diameter
perforated PVC pipe installed in the borehole within the test zone and a solid
section of 2-inch diameter PVC pipe was installed above the perforated section
and extended to the top of the well. The annulus of each borehole within the
testing zone was filled with clean sand (#3 Monterey Sand). The infiltration test
was performed in consistence with the procedures outlined in the Technical
Guidance Document of the Orange County Water Quality Management Plan. The
test results are presented in Appendix D, Infiltration Test Data.
2.4 Geotechnical Laboratory Testing
The following tests were performed on the soil samples collected during our field
investigations on August 20, 2018, and October 29 and 30, 2018:
• In -situ Moisture Content and Dry Density (ASTM D2216 and ASTM D2937)
• Particle size (sieve analysis ASTM D6913 and ASTM D1140)
• Expansion Index (ASTM D4829)
• Modified Proctor Compaction (ASTM D1557)
• R-Value DOT CA Test 301
• Corrosivity CTM 422, 417, and 643 (chloride and sulfate content, minimum
resistivity, and pH)
Consolidation with time rate settlement (ASTM D2435, and ASTM D4546)
Direct Shear Test (consolidated drained), (ASTM D3080)
Results of the laboratory tests are presented in Appendix C, Laboratory Testing
Data.
!oto
jo
Leighton
