MainPlace Mall Transformation Project 12126.001
3 SEISMIC HAZARD ASSESSMENTS
We discussed the geologic and seismic hazards in our geologic and seismic hazard
review report (Leighton 2019). A summary of our seismic hazard assessment for the
site is presented as follows:
3.1 Surface Fault -Rupture
Our review of available in-house literature indicates that no known active faults
have been mapped across the site, and the site is not located within a designated
Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zone (CGS, 1986; Bryant and Hart, 2007).
3.2 Seismicity and Ground Shaking
The site is expected to experience moderate to strong ground shaking form
earthquakes occurring along the major active and potentially active faults in the
region (see Figure 4, Regional Fault and Historic Seismicity Map). Provided
below are the code -based design and risk -targeted Maximum Considered
Earthquake (MCE) spectral acceleration parameters at 5 percent structural
damping for structural design. These parameters were calculated based on the
general procedures of the 2016 CBC using the USGS U.S. Seismic Design Map
tool (Version 3.1.0). Site -specific spectral acceleration parameters can be
developed upon request by the structural engineer.
7 /
Ito
Leighton
